Name changes tracking?

Subject: Name changes tracking? Sat Sep 15, 2007 7:00 pm

So I've come to realize that some people on the forum change names more frequently than clothing, and it's making it somewhat difficult to remember who's who sometimes (For me anyway, but then I'm forgetful).

Would it be possible to try and implement a way of tracking name changes? Like click on a person's profile, and there be a field that says "Previous Handles:" or something and lists what they've been known as before?

Guess I just like knowing who I'm talking to, and when someone changes names, avatar and sig all the same day, I just think that the old person exploded in a puff of sparkles and got sucked into the nether or something.

That's a good idea, actually. I don't think it's a simple thing to do though.

Hmmm.... How about a new forum rule? Like, "If you change your name, you MUST indicate all other names you have gone by in your signiture". Doesn't apply for name changes that last for less than a day.

I don't like the "You MUST" part of that.

If you change your name to something completely different from what it was and plan it to be permanent it's polite to let people know, however.
