It did indeed give a homely feeling. The green was hideous.

But the purple and white just looks so ugly...

I get the feeling that you're missing the joke.

Specifically that you used "homely" instead of "homey," turning the statement from how you felt of the old color scheme to how I felt of the old color scheme.

Personally, I must disagree. Purple and white is a fine color scheme in my humble opinion. Some of the greatest forums I've ever posted on used similar colors.

It was the most neutral I could find, while still maintaining a mildly magical theme. The choices are pretty limited...

I personally think the icons are too distractingly large.
