| | I think the best foreshadowing we could've gotten that didn't reveal too much would be Gregory saying "Hey, I remember these books from when I was a kid." At some point while they were in the library. |

Hows about saving his brother and all that? |
Which part of 'this way' (ie, without actually telling his brother what he was doing) was unclear?
In order to justify the manipulation, we would have to believe that Gregory, fully informed of the dangers, would be incapable of working with Dominic to solve the problem.
If Greg is truly that incompetent, then he should not be running around loose--he's a menace. More likely, though, the puppetry was just to show off how elite Dominic is. |

| Unless I missed it, in the "magic is just magic" strip that made so many of us upset, I think it would have helped us if, instead of following Scruffy Boy as he walked off in the streets, we had a little scene where Dom turns to Luna and said "now Luna... here's the real reason..." or something like that.
Anyway, I want the next arc to start, just for the heck of seeing old characters get all angsty. _________________ Also known as Undead Katharos

| I love how "saving his brother" involves having him almost die, having his friends almost die, and putting the entire town at risk. _________________

| | Well, techincally they're not in danger if Dom knows they're not in danger... oh I've gone and confused myself. |

Hell, if I could see the future I'D do the smug routine all the time. Why? Because I can! _________________ "When most people agree with you, worry." Rappaport, 1981 |

| | Faolan: Okay, now that is a valid response. I admit, by now I would've engineered the downfall of the Republican Party, the excising of the Centrist Democrats, and probably become Dictator-for-Life (or even better, Chief Adviser to the Dictator-for-Life). |

I don't think it's because Greg is incompetent, he just doesn't know the full spectrum of his powers - and how could he? No one could possibly know everything about their abilities right off the bat. |

Given Greg's 'innate' power-sense, I agree. The 'incompetence' comes in if we attempt to assume that Dominic HAD to manipulate Greg (instead of, you know, just sitting him down and talking over the kitchen table) in order to keep Greg in check. This suggests that either:
A: Greg is too stupid to comprehend something told to him in a plain fashion, or; B: Greg would be unwilling to burn off his magic and cast spells to alter his appearance if the situation was explained to him, prefering to run the risk of killing Snowsong accidentally.
It doesn't matter if it's A or B, it still establishes that Greg is a menace to public health and should be locked.
If, OTOH, it was NOT necessary for Dominic to do things this way--if he could've headed off the whole thing just by talking to his brother--then he's just being a smug, manipulative asshole.
We clear, now? |

| true.
but then there is this: Dominic also set into motion some events to quell Snowsong's rage and hatred. Perhaps he had to go into Greg's mindscape and manipulate him in order for his plans with Snowsong to work out as he wanted. |

| | seerseeker: And yet that would still require Greg to be incapable of following a plan explained to him in a normal fashion. |
