| Hm... Let's see... My post first stated that I liked Snowsong, and then I went on to praise several earlier manifestations of fanservice in the comic, and THEN I pointed out why the outfit on the current bit of eye-candy is so very wrong and insulting. Yup, I think I'm safe on the 'balanced commentary and constructive criticism' thing, too.
And even if the overalls aren't denim (or some equally durable-yet-coarse fabric good for use in, y'know, farming), that still doesn't explain either the fact that the woman should be a talking lobster due to sunburn, AND should reek like a day-dead mule. |

It is with frustration and disappointment that I inform you that I am canceling my subscription to Babybug following the April issue. I am doing this not only because I have just passed my second birthday (on April 28!) and have begun to feel the attendant inclination toward Ladybug, your magazine for 2- to 6-year-olds. I had planned to linger among the beloved pages of my toddlerhood just a little longer, but that changed after Babybug's dramatic drop in quality since January. Now, I'm willing to accept dancing koalas, preachy old frogs, and singing daffodils, but the strident tone adopted by so many of your characters recently (Exhibit A: "The Fluffy Duffy Bear") has become tiresome and grating. Also, your stories too often reach facile conclusions (Exhibit B: "Singing With Our Barnyard Friends"). And the jarring deus ex machina so crudely inserted into "Monkey's Birthday Party" was, for me, the limit. I can't tell you how sorry I am to mark my youth's end with so artless an issue.

| I used to enjoy Dominic Deegan. Then I suddenly realized how awkward and clumsy the writing was. Seven out of eight panels, I'm thinking, "Wow, what human being talks like that?"
I don't know if it just recently became that or if I had a willful blind spot, but since that cloudy night when I cried for what was lost, I turned my eyes to the heavens and swore a vow on the memory of my forefathers with God as my witness that I would somehow derive enjoyment from Mookie's writing, whether he wanted me to or not. And so I started making fun of it.
Now, to be fair, there are some moments I can enjoy without rolling my eyes. For example, the strip with Luna talking with the box of candy was cute. But that was eclipsed by months of the villain with the second lamest motivation and in the same storyline that spawned, "snowgie," so it was a lost cause, I suppose.

| Honestly, the school arc felt like heavy filler. This most likely is too. I loved the stuff with the students, though, and I do hope they return.

| The arc has a glaring error in the "magic is just magic" thing and some other writing errors (no one noticing Snowsong's magic-rage, Greg Smash etc.). But it's also been fairly amusing and thoroughly introduces a new villain/character by portraying a considerable portion of the story from her perspective, which IMO is a nice change of pace. I guess I'm neutral on this arc right now, but if "magic is just magic" gets fixed/smoothed over or we get some quality fighting/violence I'd be pleased with it overall.

I never said we SHOULD be mindlessly happy and cheerful about the comic. I said we shouldn't blindly praise it but we shouldn't nitpick everything. Maybe try to point out a few good points.
But I guess I didn't say that properly and I'm sorry to have offended you. I'll stop trying. The logic of this forum is too far over my head. ^^; I just don't know how to argue.
