| Book: The Lies of Locke Lamora Author: Scott Lynch Genre: Fantasy Favourite Line: "Oh. Oh. You have a magic boy. Why didn't you say so? Magificent. I'll plant him in the fucking ground and grow a vine to an enchanted land beyond the clouds." (I love Father Chains )
Recommendation: This is an epicly awesome book. Set in the city of Camorr, it is about a thief (more specifically the Thorn of Camorr) named Lock Lamora (go figure >.>). The dialogue is done excellently, and the characters are created with thought and emotion. And Scott Lynch isn't afraid to kill a main character, be warned...I was really sad when one of the characters died... :C
I also recommend the Sword of Truth series (surprise surprise) to anyone who hasn't read it. It is an epic fantasy series, with ideas that snag you right from the start, and chaacters tha you love. Though there may be parts hat make you uncomfortable: LOTS of violence that is described (for example, saying that a sword exploded through someone's skull, and describing how the bits of bone and brain flew everywhere etc etc etc) and there is rape as well (though it's never decribed, just mentioned a helluva lot). _________________ *Insert evil laugh here* Don't let reality ruin your day.

| Well...I'm soon to be taking to task co-authoring a book. Its development was arrested due to a sudden stop of writing by the author, who eventually has gone on extended hiatus. It was preceded by a series of majorly epic RPs, that I participated in to a large degree, and the book's genesis spawned the game project I am currently involved in. A choice was given to have the book given to an outside source who was not initially involved, or I take up the yolk. I took that yolk, and plan on reading it the old fashioned way, once its pages have been bound, and then rewriting and polishing it.
Book: U.E.C.V. Frontier (First of the Trilogy, working title) Author: Firelance Genre: SciFi
So Far: Excellent storyline, decent writing. Left in draft form, and I hope it will someday be a recommended read.
I just recently finished reading The Shadow of Saganami, which I'll post later. ^.^ _________________ Most piratical fox you're likely to see.

I'm just getting started on this. It's freaking awesome, even if it is a bit language heavy at the start. =3 |

| Book: Catch-22 Author: Joseph Heller Genre:???(most likely comedy or ) Favourite Line: Far too many....But I really like Mcwatt's "Oh well, what the hell." Recommendation: Perhaps the most hilarious book ever, and it is just plain awesome. The book has an odd, rather comedic way of describing people. There is some violence that is rather gory, and sex. Lots of sex stuff. _________________ "It's 104 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." "Hit it."

| Book: Smoky the Cowhorse Author: Will James Genre: Fiction
im a horse fan as well as wolf and decided to see what this book was about. It's a cute story, im almost 100% sure the man who wrote it is form the south because he uses 'mammy' instead of mommy and some other southern terms throughout the book x3 _________________

| Finished The Automatic Detective. it was excellent and i would deffinately recomend Martinez's work to anyone who likes a humorous well thought out read
Next book
Title: Slade's Children Author: Garth Nix Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy
what it's about: Some sort of apocoliptic future where children resistance fighters strike back against interdimensional invaders. It was a dollar at a book sale and with a premise like that i couldn't pass it up. _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. | not to bump my own thread or anything but i finished Slade's Children and it was really fricken good. the what its about i said earlier pretty much describes it and now i'm gonna pick up some more books by Garth Nix.
Now i have a choice i can read either the Complete Hitchikers Guide to the Galixy or Enders game. don't know which to read. i'll probably end up having one as my work book and the other as my bored at the house book. anyone else reading anything new? _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. | | I've read Slade's Children too, and it was a pretty good book. Garth Nix also wrote the Aborsen (I spelt it wrong >_>) series that are more fantasy then sci-fi, but are also really good. |

| It was called "The Old Kingdom Trilogy". It is my all time favourite fantasy series.
And the spelling is Abhorsen. _________________

| Book: Dune Messiah Author: Frank Herbert Genre: Science Fiction
It took me a little longer than expected to get into the Dune series, since there's so much information constantly being presented you have to familliarize yourself with and memorize for later use, since it's an ENTIRELY different world, but I was pretty satisfied with the first, and am halfway through the second now.
Maybe because I don't read much sci-fi..? _________________

| Ah. That was the name of one of the books. My bad. :P
It was a really, really good series though. Highly recommended. I actually liked it better Slade's Children, but I tend to like fantasy better than sci-fi.

| Book: Philosophy Made Simple Author: Robert Hellenga Genre: Realistic Fiction Favorite Line: "She listened to the notes; he listened through them. She heard melody and harmony and counterpoint; he heard something calling him from far, far away."
Plot: Basically about this old guy named Rudy who is trying to find meaning in his life, after his wife died and his children are off in their own worlds with their own families. One of his daughter's husbands wrote a book called "Philosophy Made Simple" and as he reads it, Rudy begins to think more outside the box.
I'm liking it so far. Not much to say about it since I just started it. _________________ check out my art blog and devART. |

| i've read the hobbit. and the first two of the trilogy and halfway through the third. i've read the first two and halfway through the third like 3 times now. i read the first two. then halfway through the third i get distracted. or someone takes my book. or i move and the book gets packed away for 6 months. then i find the third book and go "well i should realy refresh myself on what happend in the first two cuz its a lot to remember." and the cycle continues. i'm pretty sure the universe doesn't want me to know how it ends. _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
