That music that it seems like only you listen to...

I was only a vocal major for about half a semester before deciding I couldn't spend $80,000 on a degree that wouldn't earn me money. :/ Which meant I had to give up my talent scholarshipppp. I like free money, even if they made me jump through hoops at all different competitions to win it.

Hmmm... I used to a lot more, but I still listen from time to time now: Mindless Self Indulgence, MC Chris, MC Frontalot (and a few other nerdcore MCs xD) and Jack Off Jill.
I recently picked up 'lighter, cuter' fare with The Ditty Bops.

My music tastes are weird, I like almost anything. I still rock out to Jukebox Hero and Crazy Train sometimes. And sing country karaoke in redneck bars.

Seems like no one i know irl even manages metal heavier than disturbed, so I'm stuck having everyone looking strange at me for liking it. But i know some others who likes metal.

Now I'm listening to a lot of Slayer, Opeth and Dream Theater. Most of my friends haven't heard of Slayer even, so there you go. :<

I'd recommend creating your own underground scene. That's what I did in high school. I found the few people that had listened to real metal and got them together with those that had only known a taste of the good stuff. The result is a rather large group of friends who have a much better understanding of music in general.

But then again, i live in a small town... Not nearly enough people to do that. You would be disappointed in Norwegian youth when it comes to music-taste too. Norwegians runs around listening to horrible Swedish trance and Norwegian farmer-country crap. :<

I live in Arkansas, I know exactly how difficult it is.

The Surf Coasters, or surf music in general, I have not met one person irl who listens to it.

Oblivion Sun - progressive. Most of their stuff is a little too out there for me and relies too much on synth, but I like the song The Ride and RE: Bootsy. Some of them used to be in Happy the Man, in case that name's a bit more familiar.
