When I was about 10 I ws at that stage in my life where I loved watching and reading about comic book heroes. My personal favourite was Ironman. Tony Stark is one of the more unique superhero's. He is not hard done by or even has anything particularly traumatic from his childhood. He still follows the rich debonair sterotype we get with Bruce Wayne but he has a hell of a lot more personality. When you go to see The Dark Knight this year don't forget to go watch the new Ironman movie. It looks awesome.

I'm not going to Dark Knight. They butchered the joker.

The Iron Man film looks badass, but Tony Stark had Captain America assassinated. After that, I lost any amount of devotion to the prick.

Meh, I'm still going to see both just to be able to give my point of veiw. You cannot say they butchered something if you have not seen it, unless you are some kind of film critic who has seen the advanced screning, you really have nothing to throw behind your claims.

I'm actually a large fan of Iron Man as well. I even got the special edition action figure of Ultimate Iron Man. Set me back quite a bit >.<. I really didn't like what they did with Tony in Civil War. It turned a lot of fans against him needlessly. Ah, but I'm ranting. I'll defiantly be going to see the movie whether it's any good or not.

Godammit, Kev! They're basing the Joker on the really old-school version. Before he even had an origin. I think I like this Joker more. Jack was not a good Joker.
But we've already had this argument before, so I will say no more.

As for Iron Man, I plan to see all the Marvel movies regardless of how terrible they are, as I am a Marvel fanboy.
Iron Man looks kick-ass. I always liked him, mainly cause he didn't need super powers to kick people's ass, it was all in the suit.
I'll also state that I didn't like Civil War. While the concept appealed to me, it just wasn't as cool as I thought. Iron Man was a huge jerk in that, and that's not how I saw him at all. He didn't have Cap. America assassinated, did he? I thought it was just some rogue sniper guy. You know, like the one who shot JFK.

Faceless, I own the batman archive editions.

They have an origin for the Joker.

He was a lethal practical joker.

He was never a psycho-homicidal torturing maniac in standard continuity (even then I don't recall a single Elseworlds where this is true). This isn't even open for debate.

Nobody who has asserted their opinions that he is a homicidal raping maniac has ever produced the name and issue of a Batman book which showed him being this type of killer.

No such book exists.

The darkest Joker ever got was Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, and he didn't rape or mutilate her.

And not once did the Joker EVER paint his face to look like a joker, neither was he scarred from having his mouth cut with a knife. It's very clearly and explicitly stated that the vat of chemicals he fell into changed the pigmentation all over his body, his facial muscles were twisted due to nerve damage, and those same chemicals altered his mind.

Jack's Joker was the quintessential Joker, as every single prank and one liner comment out of Jack Nickleson's mouth came from the comic books.

The ONLY difference between jack's joker and the comic joker is the comic joker was The Red Hood, and did not have any affiliation with the maffia in Gotham City.

It's been revealed that the Illuminati had Captain America assassinated, and Tony Stark was in on it. Unless Stark turns out to be a Skrull in desguise - it is so.

I've stated why I refuse to go now stop swearing at me and trying to correct me.

Actually they did a big expose on the joker, went into detail what kind of psycho he is in the film, and it's just so far gone...

the character they are portraying in the movie is really closer affiliated to a Green Arrow Villain, can't remember who it was, someone mentioned it on the DC Comics board. All they did was swap costumes.

There is a good chance they'll backtrack what Joey Quaseda is doing by claiming almost everyone involved in Civil War was a Skrull impersonator.

A lot of people are using this to explain away peter parker's sudden change of character.

Hopefully this is true.

Although I want captain america back :( :sniff:

Where did they state that he was a rapist in this movie? And you completely lied about him not being a homicidal maniac. He kills people, just in crazy, flashy ways. You think all he did was play jokes? The Joker you are describing is the one from the old 60s Batman show. I know people who will agree with me on this too, and one of them is the biggest comic book geek I know. Either you've been reading the wrong comic, or you completely misinterpreted the Joker.
Also, Joker's origin was never revealed until the 80s, so originally, he didn't have one. I'm pretty sure there's a logical reason they changed his origin, probably just to make him seem more insane.
I'm going to go now, since this is turning into a debate. I apologize to Phoenix for arguing about something off-topic in his thread.

Only thing I disagree with is the assertion that the joker's origin is only exposed in 1951, I am certain I read a pre '51 archives book which suggested his origin.

In either case, it's 30 years before you claim he had an origin.

page 223 of batman archives vol 1 is joker's first appearance it is called the case of the laughing death, not the case of the flamboyant carving up serial killer. If it weren't copyright violation I'd scan the entire issue and post it. But since it is a copyright violation here's where you can buy the archives:

As I said before, this is not debatable. However, if you insist on debating this here's where you can go:

my handle is brokenbatfan and others and myself will gladly discuss it with you.

The joker is THE KILLING JOKE!

I remember in one of the originals he gave a bunch of boy scouts poisoned cotton candy.

That is the Joker.

Kevin you have it completely wrong.

The Joker is an insane murderer. Always has been, they have merely toned him down for TV/Movies, in the comics he a lethal, unmerciful killer.

He may not go on killing sprees, but the Joker serum, and such, all trademarks of him. He kills people in horribly ironic ways. Like Jigsaw, whom was based on the Joker.

Reit - there's psycho serial killing maniac, and there's nutjob freako.

This movie portrays him as someone who is physically wounded by a knife which infects his face with a puss oozing scar, who paints his face up, and then goes around threatening to carve people up with a knife as a serial killer.

This is not the joker. And as I said before if you feel obligated to try and debate with me, click on that link go to the DC Board general discussion and start a thread. But I advise you to bring actual proof of your claims because there are no moderators on the dc boards, and they make keenspot look like a children's park.

Well I never actually read up on the Joker in this new movie, but what I have seen so far, I love. He looks like a sweet joker.

They didn't exactly nail the Scarecrow in the first movie either, but he was still a convincing villain, and that is good enough for me.

The "begins" series is a new take on Batman, you aren't going to see the same characters, or events. It's a completely original retelling.

You shouldn't expect the Joker to be EXACTLY the same villain, just like how they gave Scarecrow a new orgin story.

:sigh: well I suggest you do read up on him before coming down on me or posting to the DC boards.

I did read a full blown press release by Warner Bros. in light of the leaked photos because I was hoping it wasn't true. However, they went into a great amount of detail of how they "updated" the joker, and it's literally pissed off every single comic buying batman fan.

Batman begins should have "pissed off" the same fans then. Because they completely REWROTE THE MAIN CHARACTER'S BACKSTORY. LOLWUT?

The movie was amazing.

Refute my Logic.
