The sephirim Sanhedrin Shinmari sighed, walked to the edge of the roof, and looked down at the chaos below. Mortals and three of her angelic companions hurried across the grounds of an expansive new school, finishing everything they would need in preparation for the students to arrive.

The school, built in the education district of the human capital, Desora, would serve her needs nicely. Not that anyone up above cared - she scowled at the sky for a brief second, as if the goddesses would be paying attention - but she hated to see a good opportunity go to waste.

The demonic presence to the south, unnoticeable by mortals, was spreading in the aftermath of the last war. Although the goddesses, including her patron, Aleandre, had been on the verge of ordering the angels to remain in the Lygaia Realm, she and four others had left. The school they had set up to teach the mortals to fight for themselves against the oncoming invasion was complete, and the most important part of the plan was ready to be put into action.

A Nishina stepped into the busy courtyard below, easily keeping out of the workers' ways as he looked around for something. She smiled as she recognized him, and took a short step off the roof.

"Lanolasalanigan Smith? It's a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to the school," she said, bowing as she came to a hovering halt in front of him. One of the nearby human workers gawked at her, apparently supported by nothing since her wings weren't visible, but she wasn't about to let anyone tower over her like the Nishina did.

"Ah, the pleasure is mine, Daughter of the Light," the man replied, bowing. "Have the preparations been completed?"

"Everything's being finished up now, and the other two instructors should be back shortly." She began to lead the way across the courtyard to the school's entrance.

"And the other matter you spoke of?" There was a note of immense dislike in the old Nishina's voice, even as his expression remained smooth. "I still believe the idea of tampering with them is abhorrent."

"We have no choice," was her reply, with a face just as straight. "Perhaps it is not the most ethical course of action, but in the face of what is coming, we really have no choice."

He was shaking his head as they entered the cool lobby, but she ignored it. It was best for their world, and they would see what she saw when everything finally came together.

Rozbael chuckled lightly at the last demon standing. He waved his hand at the bodies scattered around them.

"Looks like its your turn to join them." He stated calmly, the demon glaring at him and drawing its weapon.

"Do you know who I am?! I am Rashnu! Ice demon feared by even other demons! You stupid angel you're going to die!" It roared at him. Rozbael laughed heartily in return and slowly removed his sunglasses, looking up at the demon with his glowing red eyes. The demon stepping back into a defensive stance.

"No fool, I am the real Rashnu. You are a pathetic fake, and about to die." Rozbael growled at him, the demon taking a step back in fear.

"No! Thats impossible! You can-urk." The demon stepped backwards, dropping its weapon and clutching at the hole in its chest. Roz stepped back wiping the blood off his blade.

"Don't believe me? Allow me to demonstrate." He rose his free arm up at the demon, the hole quickly filling with ice that spread over the creature.

-Beep! Beep! Beep!- Rozbael's cellphone went off, he clambered around for it clumsily, turning away from the demon and pulling it out. It was an alarm, he glanced at the time.

"Shit....gonna be late." He muttered under his breath, "Well it was fun, gotta run." He stated turning to face the demon again and snapping his fingers, the body shattering into a thousand pieces. He stuffed his cellphone back into his pocket and took to the air, flying back towards the city.

20 minutes later, Rozbael landed in the courtyard of the facility, noticing Sanhedrin and Lanolasalanigan vanish into the lobby. He stopped to catch his breath momentarily before entering the building and jogging to catch up with them.

"Hello San, mission was handled, one of them claimed to be me. Ah... you must be... Lanolasalanigan? Pleasure to meet you." Rozbael stated bowing slightly.

Bell escaped the confines of the forest the day previous, the trip was trying at best.

Having to leave those she called family behind...It had been, what's the word, difficult. To go further and learn to rescue those very people that had once enslaved, well, there had been some loud protests within the 'family.' Despite that, Bell saw no reason not to learn how to defend themselves from creatures that could be far worse than humans...

Besides, the woman held no grudge against the human race for enslaving others. It was a matter of survival, that much was easily understandable, and had the humans not done it, someone else would...as it would appear they were trying now. A scowl settled upon the woman's visage as optics danced ever so warily about the area. It was prudent, she believed, to travel in a human form to this school, since she had to cross through areas full of humans. Though many still knew what she was, their looks and whispers had confirmed that, but brushed aside or ignored, it made no difference.

The sword, Nemesis, was clasped in a leather sheathe across her back, tied in a precarious manner to her thin leather bindings that covered her upper half, along with a small pack full of her meager belongings. The tattoos that ran down her legs and arms were not hidden, and the skirt she wore left little to the imagination of anyone around. The idea of this outfit, however, was not sexual in any manner, it was merely for convenience should the woman have the need of a sudden shift to the natural animal form.

As her figure came upon the school grounds, optics would widen at the splendor of it all. There was...little else to say except, "Wow." Bell stared at it for a long moment, before proceeding onto the school grounds. Surely no one would protest her being here, after all, she had been summoned, hadn't she? Bell frowned, pausing in the courtyard as if unsure whether or not to proceed. If she was not wanted here, there was no reason for a fight, she would leave willingly, quietly...

Bell was just being silly, though, was the final thought. Her figure crept up towards the great doors, and slipped inside, pausing just within the hallway.

Noise. So much...noise. Even as he arrived in Desora, the noise was a tangible, living thing, a part of the thick, thick life of the city. A relatively new thing to a country teacher, in a "big" university town. In fact, he couldn't recall such a site since his repo man days.

He shook the thought aside, which was replaced, as his thoughts frequently were these days, by a much more disturbing thought. Something going on below the surface of this whole academy that just sat wrong with him. His expression tightened slightly, pondering the complex state of the world which brought about such necessities as the one he's lost such sleep over.

Mercifully, a gaggle of workers broke into his thoughts as they busily hurried past the entrance to the central courtyard. Professor Lanolasalanigan Smith paused in his stroll to smile and nod a greeting as one of the young humans looked his way. Walking around the work party and into the courtyard, his mind rested on the reason he'd come. He glanced about the area until his eyes rested on the form descending before him.

"Lanolasalanigan Smith? It's a pleasure to meet you. Welcome to the school," she said, bowing as she came to a hovering halt in front of him. The old Nishina squinted slightly, smiling in greeting, as he bowed in formal greeting.

"Ah, the pleasure is mine, Daughter of the Light. Have the preparations been completed?" he queried, as he rose back to his full height.

"Everything's being finished up now, and the other two instructors should be back shortly," she began, turning to hover toward the school's entrance, leading him. A dark cloud seemed to touch his mind, yet again.

"And the other matter you spoke of?" he asked in slightly darkened tones, despite his efforts. "I still believe the idea of tampering with them is abhorrent."

As she replied, his thoughts turned slightly darker. He sighed, shaking his head, but then turned as he heard someone approach from behind. He smiled, recognizing the aura of an angel whose magic has been recently used. He responded to the man's greetings charmingly.

"The pleasure is mine, Son of the Light," he replied, with a bow of his own. "Now, suppose we all three find some place to sit? Not all of us are tireless, immortal beings, and that transit stop could have been closer!"

Unlike Bell, Revya found it very easy to drop what he was doing and head for this school he'd been invited to attend. Not like there was a permanent home or some family to make him hesitate. Although he had to admit the only real reason he decided to actually come was because Gig threatened to forcibly walk Revya's sorry ass to the school if he didn't take advantage of this opportunty to become stronger. He was wearing what he usually wore and had his sword strapped to his back. Course it was hard to see that. Hard to really see Revya as well. He seemed to be wearing a cloak and hood. Had those spiffy sunglasses too. Another difference between him and Bell, he wasn't awe stricken by the school itself. It was ornate, sure, maybe even impressive, but he didn't care. Gig on the other hand.

Holy shit. Someone sure as hell wants to try to impress us. A shame really. All this work doomed to be wasted effort. Once I get your body, I'm gonna enjoy tearing this place apart.

Gig.

What? Damn, kid! It's not like you'll still exist. You'll be guilt free. Course, you could always let me have your body now. Hehehehe.

. . . Why am I even here?

Ugh. I already told you. You need to get stronger. Having the power of a totally indestructable badass like myself helps but damn, you can't fight for shit.

I do alright.

If you say so, kid.

Stepping inside, Revya took notice of Bell. Though in all honesty, it's kind of hard to not notice a woman wearing an outfit like that. She might as well be naked. Of course Gig had something to say about that.

Hot damn, kid! They got us a hooker! This school really knows how to make it's students feel welcome!

Revya said nothing. He just stood there, not sure if he should explore or just wait for someone to tell him what to do.

Aeris made her way through the streets of Desora, she wasn't very fond of the humans, who had tried to enslave so many races. Though now was not the time to hold petty grudges. She had been invited to join a school of some sorts and since she had always been curious, she had decided to look into it.

While she walked down a busy street where lots of shops were build, Aeris noticed that the locals gave her weird glares. They probably hadn't seen a Miasumi in ages, certainly not one of the Nasune clan. In her mind, Aeris could still see the angry faces of her clan when she told them she had decided to go to Desora. The leader had said to her that if that was what she wanted, she shouldn't feel the need to return.

She shook her head to forget the memory again, it was still too painful. When she looked up, she saw that she had finally reached her destination. Without taking notice of the workers, Aeris walked through the gates and thought that the building looked a bit similiar to the buildings that used to be in her hometown.

Jared Morgan shuffled down the streets, trying to hurry as best he could with a large suitcase behind him. He was sure he looked rather silly, but it's not like he ever let that stop him before. He couldn't believe the angels were already here! How had they managed to slip in completely unnoticed? Perhaps the calibration for the rift sensor was off.... or it just completely didn't work, after all, the theory was sound, but the testing next to nonexistant.. or they could have come here in the normal way... but that was boring.

He slowed down as he made his way through the education district, and smiled at a mass of humans deep in study. Learning... knowledge... it's what makes the world go round, and it's the only true way that the world can move forward.

"Ah, that must be the school." he said smiling as he came upon a large, ornate building... even by the standards of the schools he'd attended. He walked slowly and carefully forward to meet the celestials... and his fellow students, but just below the surface he could barely contain the excitement. So many subjects, so close by...

In a small run down building across from the school, a man watched the steady influx of nonhuman's through the scope of his rifle. The barrel would track this one or that lazily for a moment, then flick over to another. His fingered itched to pull the trigger on these freaks, but he fought down the urge, stamping it under his iron will.

He had been summoned by that damned Celestial being. He hated Celestials. They had, at times, fought against the Empire, trying to plunge the world into disorder and chaos. He had killed one or two in those days, but that had been a long time ago, and he wasn't as spry as he once was.

He had been waiting in that rundown building for three days, after traveling across the countryside for a few weeks. He had taken out a few groups of rebel soldiers, some small freak villages on his travels. It was his job.

He slung the rifle over his shoulder and walked out of the building. His weapons hung visibly on his person, open threats of imminent violence.

A few of the police officers gave him looks, but they drew away quickly enough. Cold malice and threat seemed to flow of him, and he moved too fast, too gracefully to be anything but an augmented man. And there was only one who could possibly that old, who could have survived that long against unsurmountable odds.

Magistrate...

The boogeyman. The hated man. Feared by all freaks and rebels, for good reason.

He snuck around the back side and into the school, avoiding everyone. He planted the occasional remote bomb, just in case. With that out of the way, he climbed to the top of the building and set up a new sniper position.

He watched the old Nashina talking to the damned angels through his scope. He had fifty rounds of Wargun MK. II magic disruption ammunition loaded. He waited and watched, rifle at the ready.

While there was slowly a small crowd forming on the courtyard, Aeris sat down on one of the benches in the shadow. Her eyes were shifting from one side to the other, trying to take in what kind of beings were around her. She saw all kinds of magical races passing through.

With a sigh, she lay down her staff next to her, but was still holding it just in case. There weren't any Miasumi as far she could see, certainly not from Nasune. In her mind, Aeris hoped that she wouldn't attract any unwanted attention, being by herself.

Any who walked by Professor Winston Crane's large, run down, and quite eerie looking estate could hear the sound of drilling, nailing, melding, and charging. Every so often a large clank would be followed by a "That's not right..." until finally the cacophony of creation ceased.

"Okay... the engine's in place.... the boosters are charged....", going over a checklist of his latest creation Crane didn't even notice he was going to be late for his new teaching job. After flicking a few switches and adjusting a few dials, the excitable professor licked his lips in anticipation. "If this works..... I'm going to be great... well, greater anyways." He laughs to himself idly, "Well, I guess that wouldn't work either, you can't be greater than greatest... unless....." He starts to argue the semantics of grammar over in his mind while he subconsciously fits himself into the driver's seat.

After discovering that he's a very worthy opponent, he concedes to himself and now knows that the coveted title of "Greatesterest" will be waiting for him at the school's courtyard, once his latest invention gets there that is. "The Ballistic Automated Superior Transport or Air and Road Dragster, or B.A.S.T.A.R.D., will be the premium in quick and efficient transportation." He finishes explaining his latest invention to his imaginary audience and begins his countdown.

"Five" I think everything is where it needs to be... he thinks to himself.

"Four" The boosters, the engine, the panel, the wheel, the wheels...... THE WHEELS! realization slaps him in the face like dozens of unsatisfied dates.

"Three" I only put on three wheels!

"Two" Three's enough.... right?

"One" Maybe I should just get out an----

"Take off" As the robotic voice finishes Crane's own demise, he has one leg out. The rockets in the back roar with fury as his entire garage is blown back yards from the thrust. As he looks down at the ground, all he sees are buildings and clouds.

"WOO HOO!!! I just hope I remembered to put in the parachute!!! Miss Shinmari, here I come!"

He had a good feeling about this launch, the other five were just flukes.

The first thing anyone would notice about the girl passing through the gate was her hair. More specifically, they would see the mess of twigs that had worked itself into it. It said wonders about her lack of perception - or lack of concern, whichever the case may be - that she seemed blissfully unaware.

The second thing they would notice was the trident in her hand, almost as tall as she. The fact that she was using it as a walking stick was not adding to the subtlety.

Chiele stepped into the courtyard, bringing the trident down on the path with a dull thud as she paused to look around. Nice place, she thought to herself. Bit dry, but nice. Lotsa people, too.

She shrugged, adjusting the bag on her shoulder and walked over to the crowd. After all, if they'd been summoned like she had, there must be something to talk about.

Drake was lying in his bedroom in the cheap city hotel, curtains drawn and lights dimmed.

He was trying to relax, wait for sunset, when he more appreciated traveling, though he was used to traveling long times in sunlight, if given choice, the time of darkness is better, if not to rouse suspicion.

Drake closed his eyes for a moment, just one …. Moment….

Drake opened his eyes to not see a dim room, but a brightly lit lab.

Bleached white walls.

Men in white suits.

Why……no…..

Needles probing him, injecting him.

Noo………stop it……

Giving him shocks, cutting him ‘accidentally’….

“STOP IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!”

Drake woke up to a sweat-stained bed and sheets all over the place…Drake panting hard and his heart racing fast…

What am I doing here? I’m almost happy it wasn’t……….of them……….

No, concentrate. We are going to this place, it’s the last thing for me, I mean…….

James looked around the empty room.

What else is there…..

Drake shook his head and stood up.

“Enough of this, I might as well get going, as long as I’m up”

He quickly put on his foot, face, and hand wraps, and put on his robes and sunglasses. Grabbing his only luggage, a rolling suitcase, the only thing he could find to use, and walked out of his room, down the staircase to the desk.

Drake only handed the keys to the desk boy and left quickly, the boy just giving him a strange look.
I’m used to it by now…..

Drake walks into the outside sunlight, the sun thankfully starting to set soon, meaning less discomfort for him.

Drake walked down the crowded sidewalk, not bothering with all the strange glances he was getting…

Why am I doing this? What would mom and dad think…….

Drake stopped for a moment, holding back the wave of grief for a moment……. It was almost too much, to think of them still, it was like Drake had shut off that part of him, a whole new life,

Yes, a new life, something to help others, something where no one else has to go through my pain as well. They would be proud of me for this……..I miss you guys…..

If one was looking closely, you could see the face bandages slightly dampen the slightest….. Then dry up from magic cleaning….

None of that….. I have grieved, and I moved on…… I think……Dammit, where is that building?

That’s when he found he was standing at the gates to the building, a lady with trident in hand and twigs in her hair already inside and walking to the building.

Wow……..

Drake got an eyeful from the gate’s entrance of this building, it was certainly something….

Drake opened the gate and walked inside, a weird sense of dread and excitement mixed together in him……..

The sun prickled at Colenis's skin as she walked down the wide streets of Desora. She could have pulled the hood of her cloak up, protecting her face as well as her eyes, but it was too hot out to wear the stuffy hood.

As she walked past people, a few kept up a muttering that she took a passing notice of, mostly concerned about the number of non-humans in the street that day. It made sense, she realized; if she had been told to come to the angel's school today, so would the other people that had been asked. And if they chose to comment on her clothing and appearance, well, they did that every day.

The school building was huge and ornate, but she had watched its construction and didn't bother gawking like other people would. A steady stream of people seemed to be heading inside, so she followed, a little apprehensive but excited about what was in store. After all, if she was scheduled to go crazy in the not-too distant future, she'd go out in the best way possible.

His eye shifted along, slowly looking at one and all. He measured them against past encounters, foes long since defeated and trod underfoot. He was surprised to see so many Alindri. There weren't that many left in the world.

He had help see to that.

One of them caught his eye for a moment. An Alindri swathed in bandages and robes, like most Alindri, but somehow... Different. The hair rose on Magistrate's neck. They had meet before, he was certain of it. But when?

He'd keep an eye on tha-

His eye shifted again, fixing upon a young slip of a girl, no more than fifteen years old. Another Alindri, the damned demonic aura felt even at this range. She was so small, so exquisitely shaped and young. He longed to take her and make her his, to- No. He stomped down on the lust. Not right now. Not with angels and demons and all these others floating around.

But perhaps, later, there would be time to indulge. Whether she wanted to or not.

Rozbael was talking with Sanhedrin and Lanolasalanigan when he noticed the glint out of the corner of his eye.

This place is gathering negative attention already...

He smiled politely to them both. "I'm sure San can give you a nice place to sit and rest, now if you'll excuse me. I have some matters to attend to." He bowed slightly and left them both.

Five minutes later he was standing on the rooftop behind the man. He seemed focused on whatever he was peering at through his rifle scope.

Humans...Sometimes I wonder.

"Praytell, what exactly are you looking at? I do hope you don't intend on shooting any of my prospective students." Rozbael stated to him calmly, breaking the silence.
