| An excerpt from “The Age of Kings Reviewed”
History for the most part only reaches back to the start of the Age of Kings. In the beginning of which there were many kings each holding sizable land chunks. How these first Kings came to power isn’t known. What is known is that they scrabbled with each other until the King of the Northlands and the King of the Southlands united against the islander kings and defeated. This ushered in a great wave of peace and prosperity for all the Races where technological and magical advancements made unprecedented change.
Hundreds of years go by and the monarchies stayed strong in both nations Each of them obtaining powers and knowledge beyond anyone’s wildest dreams the north focusing on Traditional magic’s and research into Focus and the arcane. The south took the reputation for its alliance with the Dragon clans and its focus into Enchantments and Runic. Eventually leading into the discovery of Cosmological Magic.
With the discovered of such magic, tension began to rise between the two nations as the North demanded that they relinquish the secrets behind its practice. The south refused and started to test its limits on uninhabited Islands and areas. The Dragons and their land would not hear of this and broke off its alliance with the south and sealed of their regional lands with all the humans inside.
Certain military leaders who had never trusted any of the Dragon Clans demanded that they release the humans as well as many magical artifacts that the dragons had created. The Dragons allowed the humans to leave, however very few actually did, being happy in their homes and not particularly motivated to leave their homes.
The Southland military who had by this point taken control of the state felt this was a treacherous act enacted a burn protocol and casted a Cosmological spell by the name of Inferium in the populated human regions. The few humans who were near a Dragon’s nest survived. But there were not many at all.
The northland had been watching this with interest and decided that with the attack on those innocent people it needed to invade before things got out of hand. So a fleet gathered in the islands with an army in it which only met when they landed on the southern continent. The Army swept in and seized many vital towns. Now at this point there is debate at the truth. Its accepted that Southland attacked the citied but with what was the question. Many think that they used a Cosmological spell that utterly evaporated the cities, but some have began to think that perhaps they simply dislocated the cities in time. Evidence from artifacts being found from the same period but different ages. Research in Time magic is of course closely monitored by the Grand Wizards and what exactly it amounted to at the peak of magical power is unknown.
What more important however is that the dragons remained neutral except to viciously defend those that survived the initial onslaught.
The Northerners with the vast majority of their military in the southlands now, were taking power despite the initial setback of the first invasion. And were about to take the city when the Arch-Mage Tacidus cast a spell of such destruction that a quarter of the southlands continent is still uninhabitable by anything but the most difficult of creatures. It killed millions of people, the entire northern army, and completely missed the dragons.
This seemingly ended the war. However The northern people horrified at so many losses rose against its government and dispatched it without trouble. Reinstating an old system of confederated regions which slowly grew apart till each had complete autonomy. The Southlands became barbaric. Regions fighting each other until things came into balance and each group of people left to their own. Although many clans still remember the old times and remain a vigilant fighting force.
End of The Age of Kings. _________________ ntia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem. |

| I reserve this space for info on alchemy which i will fill later.
Alchemy:
Alchemy is the practice and study of the transmutation of things. Primarily it covers the use and creation of various chemicals to suit ones purposes or to replace magic and metallurgy.
Most alchemists seek out to turn various metals into others or to find the cure to all disease through physical means.
A small sect of alchemists focus on a chemical form of necromacy(Marsco being a very skilled alchemist in this field).
Alchemy can be similar to alteration magics in some respect, but there is one truly vast difference. Alchemy follows the rule of equivalent exchange. You cannot make a bar of gold out of nothing, and you cannot improve ones body or alter it from nothing. However, there are also limitations to what can be done. This isn't full metal alchemist, you cannot suddenly turn your arm into a giant spear. At most alchemy can temporary increase strength and stamina or cure injuries and disease. However with proper training and great skill one could use alchemy to create chimeras out of different parts or through means of grafting.
Alchemy is a very precise science that requires the utmost devotion and precision to do correctly. Even one small mistake in an alchemical formulae can spell disaster not only for the user but anything around them.
However, with great training in alchemy and the proper skill and knowledge of magic, one could potentially combine the two to astounding results. _________________

| Shapeshifters (also shortened to SS):
Shapeshifters are actually estranged cousins of alteration magic.
Shapeshifters aren’t made, they’re born. And rare.
Its impossible to say how many of them exist, but it’s a surprise if you meet more than one or two in your lifetime.
Shapeshifters have the innate ability to use very powerful alteration magic…. Problem is, they can only affect themselves.
They are incapable of using magic on anyone but themselves, but there is a work around….
Shapeshifters are also notoriously known for being able to easily achieve ‘Elemental Forms’
If one were to become a Fire Elemental, they can use fire spells outside their body. The drawback being, they gain HUGE weaknesses during these forms. For the Fire Form, for example, water would dose the shapeshifter’s flames, and turn him/her back into normal form.
Of course, these elemental forms cannot achieve cosmological status, but some have achieved Master status, as it is noted an infamous SS once became a 5 story volcanic beast of sorts, and tore up an entire town. Though it is believed that the SS used a very powerful Orb to do so.
I can edit this to your liking Scooter and Magello. This is only a rough draft. _________________

| Note: When a shapeshifter takes on the form of some other creature, they also become more like that creature. For example, not only would you gain all the abilities and strengths of a wolf when you turn into one, but you would also know instinctively how to use them to their greatest advantage. In this, a SS can defeat even an alterist Master in combat, as the SS would know how to use all the powers of a fire elemental on the first go, whereas the alterist would have to learn how to do everything like a child. _________________

| I already PM'd Scott about this, he said I could join up. Oh, and I figured that if we had dryads, we could have some water nymphs (tell me if I'm wrong).
Name: Jamalyssia "Jamie" Moor Rank: Bartender Age: 24 Race: Rogue water nymph Weapons: Booze. A fucking ton of booze. And distilled alcohol. Lots of that, too. A few strategically placed daggers as well, and a couple of poisons.
Appearance: Five and a half feet tall with blue blue eyes and pale skin. Her hair is a dark brown with greenish tint to it and falls just below her chin. She wears a lot of jewelry, most of it silver and many of them bejeweled, the most prominent being a silver arm band in the shape of a serpent with two sapphires for eyes. She wears a lot of flowy, toga-esque garments that are completely unrestrictive for movement. She also keeps her dagger strapped to her calf and a band of poisons (both figurative and literal) around her waist.
Background: Jamie was the daughter of a water nymph and a human (which, by the nature of her being female, technically makes her a full-blooded water nymph). Her fatehr was really just around for the one night stand and her mother died early in life from a bottle of poison accidentally spilling into her domain. This is what drove Jamie to learn about poisons - the more she learned, the less she feared them. As she herself was not bound to any form of water, save for the vast amount of water she had to consume daily to stay alive, Jamie was free to roam about, going from town to town as she saw fit. In order to survive, Jamie learned a few tricks about thievery and the black market, seeing that the best way to make a comfortable living was to steal valuable items and sell them off to skeezes who needed them badly. It was during one of these business transactions that she would make the strangest mistake of her life. She was negotiating the price for a few bottles of dragon's blood and had gone to the nearest tavern to do so. Her, ahem, "business partner" tried to get her price down by buying her drink after drink after drink. Somehow during this, Jamie accidentally performed a water nymph bonding rite to one of the drinks, a rather strong shot of vodka, meaning she could never leave it o let anything bad happen to it. She began to carry it around with her at all times and, while this meant that her natural amount of water consumption was able to go down, she was now a ratehr forced alcoholic instead as her body required it like it used to water. Indeed, she began to naturally acquire some good bartending skills from this strange link to alcohol and began working at a local bad. It was here that she was kidnapped for her own good (or so they say) after Marsco was defeated and, after seeing her legendary bartending skills in action, was invited on board for the prestigious and well-paying position of ship bartender. Jamie accepted.
Best way to think about her: She acts like she's constantly tipsy, though she's usually not due to her tolerace to alcohol that her bond has given her. She's definitely one for idle, meaningless conversation and often prefers it to ones with great meaning. _________________ "You may need to metaphorically make a deal with the devil. | Chimeras 101!
Chimeras as everyone knows are creatures composed of parts of other creatures. This is done through very complex and potent alchemical formulae, that only the best alchemists can even hope to do properly. It is generally done by picking a base creature and grafting/fusing parts of other creatures onto it. If done properly, the base will assimilate the other parts and they will become part of the whole and fully functioning. If done incorrectly the base will reject the parts and the body will die.
Alchemists follow a strict code of ethics when it comes to creating Chimeras. One may not use more than 5 different creatures, one must obey the wishes of the magical beings(you cannot simply go about killing creatures and harvesting their parts) and never ever use a human base or parts of a human. Obviously, Marsco, being a rogue alchemist, broke the latter two codes when creating Aru and the second when making his other chimeras.
As a rule of thumb, the final product will adopt the parts magical attributes as well, but to a limited extent. Also, if certain parts are made of extremely powerful beings, it is possible for that part to temporarily or even permanently take over the base, overriding its control of the parts.
Chimeras a dangerous beings, especially when made of magical parts, as those parts will constantly vie for power, creating an unstable being mentally, magically and physically. Even when not using magical parts, the temperament and instincts of the parts will interact and swap continually. A chimera may be calm and quiet one moment and howling mad the next.
More to come later. _________________
