Here's a link to the school play of the Scarlet Pimpernel, where it was sung

This song gives me chills. I’m serious. But, it’s very well done, so I’ve decided to add a necrotic sequel ^.^

(It’s night, and the coffins from the previous day’s bloodbath are scattered haphazardly around a graveyard, awaiting burial. A lone figure makes his way among them, his black and tattered robe billowing, his face obscured by his hood, and eventually stands in the center. The figure starts speaking softly, but with growing power.)

Robed figure:
I have seen death, and I’ve known the pain that it brings,
I’ve seen poor souls carried off upon demon’s wings…
But these peasants have given to bloodlust. They murder and call it Divine!
I’ll show them their folly! I’ll give them up to their own shrine!

(turns to the nearest coffin and extends a hand)
Rise! Arise!
Shake off maggots and flies!
Revenge is upon us,
Quickening necromancy!
See!
They make mockery!
Take your satisfaction,
Merciful Necromancy!

(I’m trying to make more, but the structure is awkward to work with.)

PS: In the last line, "merciful necromancy", I'd like to change "merciful" to something else. Delightful? Something like that...

PPS: Yeah, I'm not fond of the French Revolution. Not because they tried to overthrow oppressors, but becuase they were basically a lynch mob.
