| OK, so in many of the Literature Boards I've been to, which is a lot, there have been various contests. The goal of a Lit-Contest is not to be the winner (of course winning is always a plus) but to be given a drive to evolve ones writing skills. The contests would most likely always consist of short stories, but poetry or longer pieces could be a possibility as well. A jury would then read and mark all entries.
So, my question is, would anyone take part in such contests? _________________ I wish the world Love, Peace and Lemoncake!

| I'm most likely interested, but it'd depend on rules and such.
Would there be a theme (write a story about winter) a prompt (Your story must begin with this line/contain this description/etc.), or a free-for-all? Would there be a word limit? Are certain genres excluded? _________________ This signature is a line of text meant to signal you that the post you are reading has ended. Fine. I'll write smaller. Stop now. Go away.
Please?

| It could be all of the things you mentioned. Themes, prompt, genre, word limit, all could be possible. _________________ I wish the world Love, Peace and Lemoncake!

| I'd be willing to help judge, even if it does disqualify me. If you want, I could try to come up with a few different contest ideas. _________________ This signature is a line of text meant to signal you that the post you are reading has ended. | Judges will be taken for every contest seperately, so noone contestly can't take part. _________________ I wish the world Love, Peace and Lemoncake!

| I should probably be a judge. It wouldn't really be fair for the moderator of this forum to participate.
I hope you guys dont overwhelm me with reading material. X'D _________________ "Bears have penises. They can stick it in butts." ~LS |

| You guys make me laugh.
This was Drops' idea, so I feel like we should get his input for this, but here is my thought.
I make a sticky thread with some kind of "challenge." I'll probably add a word limit to the challenges, not just to help me with the reading, but also to even things out between the entries. A few interesting contest ideas come to mind already.
All contest entries would then be posted in their own threads with a certain thread icon that we would restrict to use during contesst. (You know how when you post a new thread, you can pick a little image to appear next to the thread title? One of those could mean "this is a contest entry")
Then a small panel of judges (I'm not doing this on my own.) could vote on the winner.
I elect Maulkin and Mac to be my fellow judges...but Mac probably wants to write, and I don't know how much Maulkin is into the lit scene. _________________ "Bears have penises. They can stick it in butts." ~LS |
