How do you fail at a religion? It is a set of beliefs, that you take part in. Otherwise it is a myth, or collection thereof.

Another note, vaguely on topic, anytime I try to write fiction, what I am writing comes out too heavy on dialog, and doesn't really move along smoothly. It is why you probably won't see much of anything by my posted in the board, beyond compliments, or constructive critiques.

I was kidding. But I, unlike many people from my church, can''t tell you what book a quote's from.

Fine. I'll write smaller. Stop now. Go away.

Please?

Did you honestly copy/enlarge this? Hahahahahaha

From the bible I've basically read Genesis, John, and Revelations. Over and over again. Beginning, middle, and end, baby.

Though yeah, Revelations was core. *Throws up the horns*

Eh. Usually. There is just a lot of it.

Then I don't see much problem with it. Maybe try sprinkling in some description about what the people are doing as they talk, as in body language and that sort of thing. I find that makes long conversations go a lot smoother.

Otherwise, dialogue is the part I enjoy reading the most out of stories, so that doesn't sound bad to me at all.

Dialogue heavy text isn't bad if you know how to work it. Unfortunately I can't really help you too much with that, since I tend to err on the other side of things. That is, I don't use enough dialogue.

Furthermore, to clarify, I hate all christian based religions. I just find the Bible amusing. No offense intended toward our christian members, who I greatly respect more often than not.

Pastafarians are far more amusing.

I don't particularly hate Abramic(Christianity, Islam, ect. ) religions. I just don't understand how you can act so contradictory to the Bible, and still say you follow it.

A large part of Christianity is the idea of forgiveness, and the bible states numerous times that all men are sinners.

So theoretically you can sin a LOT and still be a Christian if you ask for forgiveness.

Christianity is a confusing behemoth of contradictory ideas, and I've found that to be true without exception.

However, individual Christians are often more together than the individual sects themselves.

(Leviticus 19:27)
Quote:
"Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard."

(Leviticus 19:19)
Quote:
"...do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear material woven of two kinds of material.

(Leviticus 11:12)
Quote:
"Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales; that shall be an abomination to you."

How many of you say you are Christian, yet do those things? And that is just a partial list. And yes, the bible does say all are sinners, and shall be forgiven, yet this is a list of small details, that would be easy enough to comply with, yet most don't.

Furthermore, if I recall correctly, this is the only part of the bible which actually calls homosexuality a sin. So if you brush these off, then you pretty much have to brush homosexuality off.

If you're a scripture-based christian religion at least.

We should really move past the bible talk though. I don't mind going off topic, but this thread is for helping people, and discussion religion in it might scare people off.

I concur. Let's save stuff like that for the debate thread.

Because, this is important, Leviticus is (according to most Christians) out of date. It's old testimate, old world. Logically, those rules no longer apply to modern day Christians.

A lot of Christians know that you can't take the bible word for word, because yeah, there is some stuff that doesn't make sense if you take it all at face value.

Most of the rules in Lev are for pratical purposes, and since humans are smart enough to know better now, it is generally thought that they no longer apply. I would agree with this.

EDIT: You guys ninja'd me with the posts. =\ But agreed, no more bible talk. I was thinking the same thing.

I want to reply, but I wont. Simply read the first paragraph of my last post for your rebuttle! X'D

But on to the real matter at hand: HELPING PEOPLE!

Do you guys have any sort of process to help you with your writing? Something that might help aspiring writers?

I myself write every single day. I force myself to sit down and write at least 300 words or so. It doesn't have to be a story, it can just discuss somethign I've been thinking about. However, it has to be well written. Not the kind of thing I write on forums.

I got into this habit after taking a class where I had to write something once a day. I decided to write TWICE a day. Now writing once a day is quite easy. =D
