PostSubject: The Storyline   Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:17 pm

This is just to give you guys an idea of whats being come up with..
Basic concept! (prone to changes):

The Dominic Deegan Fansite Forum(Terra) was once a peaceful place. Well, about as peaceful as a place with wars and constant fighting can get. That all changed one day when the dangerous balance that kept the world going was threatened. The Devourer, an unknown entity, had appeared. No one quite knew where it came from, but all could tell it had immense power.

The taint of the Devourer has been growing stronger in the world as of late and it is beginning to effect people. They become nearly mindless servants of the Devourer, worshipping him like a god, and trying to bring more forumites to his side to raise his power so he may finally be freed. Several have set out to end the reign of terror the Devourer has started. Others, however, have a different idea in mind. They intend to take control of the Devourer and use it to control the forums! Others still have agendas of their own. Who will win? Will the balance be broken? And why is Maulkin dancing around in buttless chaps?!

Thanks go to Jack AT for editing it for grammar mistakes.

Will be listing a to do list for the writers soon.

Fellas, we need a final story. We haven't agreed on anything and I can't start doing my job until I know how the plot is supposed to work. Not to mention the fact that no one can make a proper backstory unless they know what the plot is about.

We need to focus before we go any farther. We've made a bit of a mistake by waiting to make a story until now, because everyone is just winging it, as is.

Me and Ark had a conversation at length about the way the story is going. I need to know one simple thing:

Are we doing this as if it's happening on the internet or in an entire different universe in which our avatars live?

Based off that, I can actually do something.

A different universe. Because while doing it in the fourm would be original, it would be beyond lame...

I disagree. A forum theme will compliment the stereotypes, the oddballs, and the extreme diversity among the characters. It explains the irregularities in a way that most of the players will be able to understand. If we were to go with the 'another universe' theme, it wouldn't make much sense at all. The stereotypes would seem trite and the oddballs would confuse, rather than reminding people of forumites that they themselves have encountered.

Meh, I just try and think of it as a pitch to not just people on the fourm. I know I would think a game about the internet on the internet would be kinda lame. I may play it, but would still be strange. But the 'another world' kind of thing seems to fit better with all the things. Because that world is ours, we can do whatever we want to it, we can explain things however we want. Besides, it gives you more potential for a deeper, possibly more serious plot line than a fourm based fighter.

How would you explain such a diverse group? And, I really don't think people would see it as lame, not unless we take ourselves seriously. If it's lighthearted, "Haha, this is what forums are like", people will laugh and enjoy it. Or at least chuckle.

Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

well, i agree on maul with this ark, i think we should base it in the forums, it adds a comical sense to it, and shows how wacky this place is, if we were to make another "random universe" people would think of the plot as another "meh, guilty gear rip-off" or something like that.

So i would say we should make it in the forums.

Maulkin the same way you explain how diverse our world is. It's not that hard to believe. And doing it based on the forums limits a lot of things. And to destroy your point Bladed: people love the cliche, don't mess with it. It was used for a basis of why we fight, it can be used for a basis of where we fight.
