You could be part of a royal family of a kingdom or something, and the Devourer threatens the kingdom of Furries on the planet. r1nn could be someone on a quest for the 'ultimate token' something that lets her never run out of change for the ddr machine, and this Devourer thing just is supposed to have the coin, she kicks the crap out of it to find it but the Devourer did not even have it, so her search continues. Drache could just be studying magic when she sensed this thing, and found the oppertunity to study such a powerful form of magic something she could not pass up.
