PostSubject: The Worn Out Road.   Thu Oct 18, 2007 3:51 pm

Daxavoni groaned to himself as he sat down on a overturned log. "Man, it feels like I've been walking for days..." He mumbled to himself as he pulled off his black boots, setting them next to him. A weary sigh escaped his lips and he slumped down on the moss that gripped the log for life. I'm not even sure where this road goes... it could be a leading me even to Maltak for all I know. Grunting bitterly, the young man grabbed his bag, thumbing inside it, until he pulled out a small novel. One of his facorites, The Lone Blade.

"Might as well rest, the sun looks like it may begin to set." He murrmured, flipping the dog tag up, and beggnining to read. Dax, as he was often called, soon fell into a trance almost, as he read. This often happened, he easily ignored the resto f the world, as the Hero took up his tale once more. The wind picked up, flicking his hair up ever so gently.

Arti was mosying down that same road, not exactly paying any attention to her surroundings. There was a good sized badger following her closely. She was humming to herself slightly in her out-of-tune sort of way. The only reason she noticed the man sitting on the log on the side of the road was because the badger stopped, sniffed him slightly, and made a badger-like noise.

"Hm?" Arti turned around and tilted her head to the side, after noticing the man that was intently reading. She squatted in front of him to get a better look at him and just sort of sat there like that for a while.

While Dax was ignorant of the world, he wasn’t completely oblivious. He kept reading as he felt a shape get into his light, and move out again. After a couple of minutes, he lowered the book. He blinked as he looked back to the woman staring into his eyes. Then they darted to the left, seeing the Badger.

He looked back to the woman and slowly moved. He righted himself and instead of standing he simply reached to his belt, his hand resting on his sword. A common warning trick for any picks pockets. But, she didn’t seem like that… just odd.

Arti smiled slightly when he looked up at her. "Why hello there." She noticed him moving his hand towards his sword but paid it no mind. She then sat down Indian-style in the middle of the road and the badger promptly crawled into her lap.

She just seemed content smiling for the moment at least while idly petting the badger, who was staring at the man like it didn't trust him.

Dax smiled back wealky and looked at the Badger staring at him, and he raied his eyebrow. "Um, is that yours?" He asked as he glanced back up to her, nervously moving his foot away from them, making sure it was safe, as he slipped his foot into his boots, and sat up straighter. He glanced at her smiling face and smiled back gently however.

"Hm?" Arti glanced down at the badger. "Oh, yes. He doesn't like people very much though. But he's harmless." The smile never left her face as she looked back up at him, seemingly content with just watching him for now. After a few moments of watching him, the badger seemingly sighed, got up, and wandered off into the underbrush behind Dax.

"Oh... okay." Dax said looking as the badger moved past him. He glanced back to the girl, as she kept smiling at him and he smiled gently again in return. "Well, my name is Daxivoni, but you can calle me Dax." He said as he held his hand out polightly.

At this introduction, Arti grinned widely and took his hand. "It's truely nice to meet you, Dax. I haven't come across another live person in a long while." She paused slightly as if thinking about what she just said but then continued. "I'm Arti."

Dax blinked as she said that and he nodded smiling weakly, not thinking anything odd about it. "What brings you to this barren road?" He asked as he moved over on the log, leaving a patch of compfy moss for someone to sit on.

Arti continued her consistant smiling as she took a seat next to Dax. "I'm not sure really." She shrugged slightly. "I've been wandering aimlessly for a while now. Just looking for something interesting, I guess."

"Really? Sounds like me." Dax said in return, alittle uneasy by the never ending smile, till he noticed her drum. Oh! She's a bard... That makes sense. He thought to himself and his smile brightened slightly as he looked back to her.

"Really?" her smile brightened a little if that was even possible. "All of the other people I've come across seemed to have a destination. I don't see what's so great about knowing where you're going anyways. It's more adventerous not knowing where you're gonna end up anyways."

At this Dax laughed gently. Wow, that was a line straight out of his book, he swore. He smiled and looked at her. "I agree to that, whole heartedly." He whisered and he gave a mock salut with his finger.

Mortimer the Entertainer, Mister Mortimer in all his gangly self, walked along a path, juggling two balls and singing a vulgar ditty to himself. His broad smile seemed too big for his narrow face, and his red eyes didn't blink enough. He laughed to himself for no apparent reason and sat in the middle of the road abruptly.

He opened his bag and extracted a hunk of bread and a small vial filled with a dark liquid. He ate the bread quickly, even picking up all the crumbs he dropped on the road. A traveling entertainer couldn't be picky when it came to food. A drop of the good stuff in his flask... He knocked it back and made a slight grimace at the taste. Then the electrifying jolt hit him. His smile grew to impossible proportions and his eyes saw many things.

He got back up and headed down the road. Today was going to be fun, he just knew it!

Arti laughed a little under her breath. "It's nice to find someone else who doesn't know where they're going." She glanced up and down the road randomly, and noticed a rather interesting looking man walking their way. She leaned back slightly so that she could easily keep an eye on the both of them for whatever reason.
