Daxavoni looked up seeing the odd man walking down the road, and he shifted his weight slowly, keeping the man in his vision. His hand gripped his sword before he looked at Arti again. "Glad to be of help." He said smiling softly.

"It's always nice to help." She said, quieter than normal but still with that constant smile of hers. She noted Dax's movements then looked at the odd man walking towards them. "Interesting."

Mortimer the Magnificent walked along the road, smile wide and eyes staring as always. It was a good walk, a sort of long legged slump that he could sustain all day and never get tired of.

Two people stood before him, a man and a women, both barely out of their teens he would wager. One was a bard by the looks of things, the other a swordsman.

Maybe. Mighty Mortimer had been around the block once or twice or thrice or... Fourice? and he knew the basics of sword fighting. The boy had a bit of training, true, but Mortimer the Magnanimous thought he could take him with his walking stick. He was very good with the walking stick.

As he approached he took out a number of brightly painted wooden juggling balls and put them to work.

Arti tilted her head to the side a bit as the juggling man approached. "Why hello there." Her smile widened a little. "Do you have a destination or are you just wandering like us?" She studied him for a moment. "It's always nice to be able to amuse people in such ways."

Mortimer sniggered to himself. He caught his balls and stuck them back in his bag. He doffed his cap and gave her an elegant bow. He straightened and struck a pose.

"I... Am Mortimer the Entertainer, vagabond, traveler, wanderer." He said with his unnerving smile. "I have no destination, no home or hearth to call my own. I am many things to many people and every single one of them comes to the wrong conclusion." He sat gracefully, folding up into the full lotus position, reached into his bag and took out a small flute. "Come bard, play with me."

"I am Arti." She nodded her head slightly in greeting, still studying the man and wondering what to think of him. "Well, my conclusion of you thus far is that you are an interesting individual. No more, no less." She nodded a bit, still smiling. Her smile faded a bit, however, when he produced the flute from his bag and asked her to play.

"Hm..." She detached her drum from her belt and lightly drummed her fingers against the head of it, thinking of a sutable beat. After a moment or two, she started with a simple but very interesting tribal sort of beat.

Daxivoni offered his name as well, as he stood up watching the man, who had a... rathe rstrange look in his eyes. Almost demented... Dax kept his mouth shut as music the man and Arti began to play, washed over him. Leaning agaist a tree now, he calmy kept his hand on his sword hilt, the other holding onto his bag. No reason not to be careful

His fingers moved quickly over the flute, and an almost frantic tune sprang forth. It blended well with the tribal tune, both fast and ever changing. They played for a time, lively tunes that set feet to tapping.

They stopped after a time and Mortimer laughed. "Good good, but I noticed you did not sing. Can you sing? I think you could or should or would or haha, listen to me babble how rude I must sound." He inclined his head to the woman once more.

He looked over at Daxi- Daxa- Daxavorini... He looked over at Dax and smiled his world renowned smile. "Care for a bit of practice with that chopper of yours?" He stood and gripped his walking stick lightly.

"Chopper?" Dax replied blinking, and he looked at his sword. "This?" He said gesturing. "erm..." He looked at the man, he didn't want to hurt the guy. Even if he was a bit of a loonly.

"Um... no, It should be fine." Dax said holding one hand up andshaking his head. The music from before made his head hurt. The tribal sound had made his adrenline spike slightly, and he was shaking it off.

"Ah." Mortimer was a bit disappointed, but that was okay. "I wouldn't have hurt you too badly in any case." He turned away, Dax no longer particularly interesting to him.

He sat down on the path and leaned against his pack, pulling out his hang drum. "So tell me about yourselves."

((OOC: YOU STARTED WITHOUT ME?!?!))

It was a fine day. The sun was shining, birds were chirping. It was just perfect. However, it wasnt perfect for a certain Knight of Callan.

Sir Roland Azuri of the Knights of Callan had been called to a small village to arrest some common theives. A mission for a knight of low-stature, and not one that paid very well, but any pay was good pay. He sighed wiping some sweat from his forehead as he walked. It was very hot out, and his armor, cape, and thick underclothes were not exactly fir for the weather. Oh, how he longed for the cool winter air of home!

As Roland walked, he noticed three figures on the road. One looked like a walking scarecrow, one looked like a swordsman, and the last was a female bard. As the overheated knight walked closer, he concluded that they were harmless. "Hey there!" he said, walking up to them. The music the two bards were making was calming, but he couldnt get too comfortable. "A strange place for a bard to play. From what I've heard, not many come through here." He would aske about the swordsman later.

Mortimer looked over at the speaker. Ah, a real swordsman! A knight of Callan no less! Well well well. Well. Well. Heehee, well!

He stopped playing his hang drum and stood stiffly. He made a leg to the knight. "I," he declared grandly, "Am Mortimer the Magnificent, entertainer and vagabond. Who might you be, good sir?"

Dax ignored the insult as he rubbed the brigde of his nose, sighing. No need to get angery at the insults of a madman. Howerver he did look up in suprise to see a knight . He stiffened slightly as he looked up to the tall warrior. "Wow." He murrmured softly looking up.

Being polite, he bowed to the bards and swordsman, smiling a bit. Sweat dripped from his brow, but he just ignored the boiling heat. "Sir Roland Azuri of the Knights of Callan."

Roland smiled a bit, wiping his sweat away with his glove. "I cant believe you are able to survive in this heat. Its almost 80 degrees!" Now, 80 degrees wasnt very hot. In fact, that was normal weather, even cool weather, for this area. Still, Roland was sweating like crazy, while the others were looking quite cool.

"Daxavioni." The young man said in return. HE blinked looking at the sweating man's face. "Sir, you really shouldn't be wearing so much plate armor in summer..." Dax said as he pulled out a hankerchief and handed it to the knight.
