((No worries Faceless always good to know beforehand, even if our characters will not really act any difference since they don't know one thing ;) ))

((Sorry about that, Ogge, I must have missed reading that post. Blame the post-con headache.))

As all the people Alisa had eyed passed them on the stairs, the person with her ring - the ring she'd given to Kieri before returning to the Winter Archipelago - turned to go up the stairs as well.

"Don't worry, you'll see me again," she heard, and then the person was gone. As she looked up the stairs, the silver head popped out of a room on the landing and added, "And in case you're wondering... I'm both. But you can call me a girl if you want." Then the door shut gently again.

The inn's patrons were giving her angry looks, so she decided to walk away from the situation. With her thoughts on the ring and the girl, she left the inn to find a place to camp for the night.

'You ever get the feeling we miss stuff sometimes?'

'Yeah, well, at least we're having fun.'

Sitting up Artak resheated the short sword. Sighing a bit.

I am bored.... he thought standing up. Taking a defensive stance he threw a few punches in the air just to get the feel of it.

I havn't been training properly for days it feels....well I did hit that guard in the last town...he wasn't happy... he thought as he made a quick move unsheating his sword and making a cut in the air with it before quickly resheating it.

"Was really sometime since I used it....well I don't need it really..." he said. once more sighing.

And talking to yourself again idiot...

((RP dead for three days? Kai will come and give it liiiiiife!!))

Morning dawned, bright and early and right in her face. She tried to turn over to get out of the light, but fell to the cold wooden floor instead.

'Brilliant. Love how this day is starting off.

"Shut up please."

Rianrike untangled herself from the bedsheets and managed to get to her feet. There was her coat and what little money she had. For a second, she tried to remember if she had actually paid for the room. But if she couldn't remember, neither could the innkeeper, so she shrugged it off and checked the chain around her throat.

((Thank you, Kai. I was actually stalling because I hadn't thought too far ahead as to what Sara and Bastian would do next.))

Sara awoke as the sun shined down through the window onto her sleeping figure. She sat up and stretched.
"What a beautiful morning!" she said yawning.

"Beautiful, right. Just hurry up and get dressed so we can go." Bastian grumbled, cracking his neck. The floor is not pleasent to sleep on even in panther form. How do those animals do it?

Sara got out of bed and kicked Bastian out again. Bastian wandered down to the lobby to see if the innkeeper had anything in the way of a light breakfast. Once there, he saw the mage from last night sitting at a table with his head in a book. Bastian approached him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Oy."
The mage did not respond.
"OY!" Bastian shouted.
He lifted off the mage's hat and saw that he was fast asleep, drooling slightly on the pages of the book. Bastian chuckled slightly, noticing that, under the hat, the mage was nothing more than a young boy. He pulled the book out from under his head and looked at it. The words were written in some type of fancy writing. Bastian could barely make them out. He flipped the book to the cover, and was shocked at what he saw.
The title of the book was The Diamond Staff: Myth or Truth?

Bastian could not help but smile at his good fortune. Here was a book that would possibly help them find the staff. There was no need to go to the seer after all.
Bastian looked around to make sure no one was watching, and hid the book in his jacket.

As he turned to head back upstairs, he heard someone mutter a spell. He ducked just as a blue ball of fire went flying past his head. The fireball hit the wall and burst into a cloud of black smoke. Bastian turned around to see the mage standing up with his hand raised at Bastian.
"It's not wise to steal from mages." he chuckled.
Bastian sighed and walked back to the mage. Bastian held the book up in front of his face.
"You want your book back, yes?" said Bastian innocently.
"Yes." said the mage.
Bastian sighed again.
"Here."

Bastian pushed the book forward to the mage, but as the mage reached for it, Bastian raised the book above him and smashed it on the mage's blonde-haired head.
"HA!!!" Bastian shouted, and he ran back to the stairs.
The mage quickly regained his composure, held out his hand and shouted "Del Rayo!"
A bolt of lighting shot from the mage's hand and flew towards Bastian. Bastian dodged it just in time however by leaping up the stairs. The mage hastily followed him throwing more lightning bolts at him. Bastian banged on the door to his room.
"Sara!! Quick! Open the door!!!"
"One second!" she yelled.
"No! Not one second! Now!"
"Azul del Fuego!"
Bastian ducked again as another blue fireball shot at him. Bastian realized that there was nothing he could do now except fight. He turned to the mage and chuckled.
"It's been a while since I had to fight a mage, especially one that speaks crazy words."
"They're not crazy, they're from a dead language. An ancient clan of sorcerers used it to add more power and precision to their spells." the mage said.
"I could care less. I'm not one for history lessons." said Bastian.
"So I see. It doesn't matter though. Just give me back my book and you will walk away unharmed." said the mage.
"What if I don't want to?" Bastian grinned.
The mage raised his arms and said "Then I will take it from your burnt corpse!"

Bastian could tell the mage was bluffing. He didn't look like the killing type.
"Go ahead and try." he said.

"Did you hear something go boom?" She was hopping around the room, trying to pull on her boots. There was yelling outside, which she would have considered extremely rude if she hadn't already been woken up.

'Probably nothing. Except the door's on fire; does that count as something?'

She extinguished the door and opened it, only to duck as a blue fireball streaked past her head. The crazy swordsman from the night before was staring down the stairs at the mage from before, holding a book in one hand.

"Hey, do you mind?" she yelled at them. "Some people are trying to get some sleep!"

--- -- ---

Meanwhile, Alisa was enjoying a leisurely breakfast at a small eatery on the other side of town from the inn.

Artak almost jumped up when he heard the 'explosions'.

And I just had a good dream..... he thought, as he pulled on his shirt. Even though he had gone to sleep with his pants on he put the short sword back to his belt.

Opening the door, he barely dodged as something flew past him. Looking down the hallway seeing that it was not only he who had woken up by the noise.

Also spotting in the room next to his was the girl he had recognised, and not to far away he also noticed two people, seeming the one causing all this.

Should I stop them?...was sometime since I fought someone... he thought.

Not really listening to himself he took a step out in the hallway.

"If anyone cast a spell or want to fight do that outside! Some people are trying to rest!" he yelled at them. "And I think we would not like that this place was burned to the ground either!"

Bastian ducked under another spell. He was getting annoyed by this. The mage wasn't even taking him seriously. These fireballs seemed to be more for show than pose an actual threat. They didn't even burn anything.

Bastian up to the mage dodging and weaving and grabbed the mage by the scruff of his robes and hoisted him up.

"Stop. You're starting to irritate me." he said in a low voice.

--------------------------------------------------------
William was now face level with the man, his feet barely skimming the ground. He felt a wave of fear rush over him. This man could kill him. He tried to cast another spell but the man grabbed his throat, cutting off his words.
"Not this time."
The door near them burst open, and the women stepped out.
"What are you doing, Bastian!? Starting more ridiculous fights with locals?" she shouted.

--------------------------------------------------------
Bastian tossed the book to Sara, who nearly fell over from the book's weight.
"That book can tell us where the staff is! Imagine our luck! Now we don't have to go to Barthis!"
Sara skimmed the pages.
"This is good Bastian......There's just one problem."
Bastian turned to her, still holding the mage up.
"What problem?"
"Well, this is Elven dialect, and I can't read Elven."
Bastian's heart sank. He figured the words were just written in some fancy handwriting that made them barely legible to everyone but the writer, not a completely different language.
"Where did you get this anyways?" Sara asked.
"This mage boy was reading it."
At that moment, Bastian realized something.
"You can read it, can't you!?" He said, looking at the mage boy.
The mage gasped for air in response.
Bastian released his throat and dropped him to the floor.
The mage stumbled to his feet.
"Yes. I can read it. Why do you-" He stopped as he realized what Bastian was planning.
Bastian picked up the boy again and slung him over his shoulder.
"Then you're coming with us!" Bastian shouted triumphantly.

----------------------------------------------------------
Willaim flailed and struggled in the man's grasp, desperately trying to get free.
"Damn you! Put me down!"
The woman walked up to them.
"Are you crazy? We can't just kidnap him!" she shouted.
"Yes we can!" The man laughed. "Get your things ready, I'll be outside."
Will started to cast a spell, but the man hit him on the back of his neck. Everything went dark and silent.

What is going on here... Artak thought as the people finally stopped fighting, and one of them were carrying down the one that had kept throwing spells around.

He heard the woman yell something about kidnapping.

Don't do anything stupid now...you have nothing to do with this.... was what he thought for himself, as he returned into his room and quickly prepared his equipment and traveling gear.

"I doupt that the innkeeper will enjoy the precense from strangers when things like this happen..." he said low for himself.

Quickly Artak hurried out from his room and made his way towards the inns entrance and exit.

((Okay, we are going to be moving on here. I think I dragged this out long enough. On my next post, we will be heading to a location where we may find clues as to where the staff is.))

((Dead RP has been dead. I'm starting it back up and moving the story along))

Bastian and Sara had managed to find another merchant willing to give them a ride out of Lyn's Brook. They threw the unconscious mage into the back of the caravan with the rest of the luggage. The merchant had asked why they were carrying an unconscious mage, but Bastian simply replied that their magical friend had too much to drink last night and couldn't wake up. The merchant asked no more questions.

Later that day, the mage began to regain consciousness. He sat up and rubbed his head. His joints were stiff and his ached. He groaned weakly.
"Where am I? What happened?"
Seeing the mage awake again, Bastian delivered another punch to the back of his head. The mage slumped over and fell quiet again.
"You're gonna kill him if you keep doing that." Sara said, obviously irritated by it.

"We have to keep him like this until we reach Barthis, then make him tell us about the Staff." Bastian replied.

"Barthis? Why are we going to Barthis?"

"In case this mage does not know anything about the Staff, we could always ask that seer there. And it just so happens that Barthis is this merchant's next stop."

Sara sighed. "What do we do with the mage if he can't tell us anything?"

"Simple. We kill him."

"What!?" Sara shouted.

Bastian laughed. "I'm joking! I was just going to dump him somewhere. Like an alley or something. Make him think he was mugged."

"That's not much better!"

"Well, he'd still be alive, wouldn't he?"

Bastian and Sara continued arguing until the caravan had finally reached his destination.

After 'escaping' from the inn in Lyn's brook he took to the road again. This time oddly enough he had taken the same way as the two odd people who had fought that spell thrower.

Artak had kept his distance from the merchant caravan they had taken even if he had to run from time to time to keep up.

Why am I even going after them? ....They were the ones who made all that trouble in the last inn... he though. But as usualy his brain didn't really take control of his impulses which caused him just for fun to follow them.. Atleast for now.

Since it is not really a good thing to kidnapp someone like they had done.

"Oh no... oh dear, this doesn't look right." His face was covered with a piece of paper that one could only assume was a map of some sort. The man in question obviously had no idea what he was doing, as he continually spun it around, "Was that supposed to be a right? Or... left? Or maybe I wasn't supposed to turn around at all. This doesn't look like ANYTHING I should be around."

Pulling the map down, it revealed a man wearing a yellow robe with its hood drawn up. This hood was odd however, as it did now allow any light to shine on his face, making it impossible to discern any facial features. The only thing visible was two light-blue colored lights that could be considered his eyes. And in fact, they were.

"No... no. I'm lost. I have no idea where I'm going." Dropping his arms to his sides, he sighed heavily, "And I bet I missed the start of the term too. Aw man, I'll be lucky if they let me in now..."
