| Alisa Lenovich took her first steps into Lynn's Brook as the sun was setting. The townspeople looked at her strangely as she strode down the streets, but she ignored them, for the most part. Her sensitive ears picked up a few snatches of conversation as she passed, the most promising being, "Another one of those weird people. Like all the freaks in the world decided to come visit today," from a guard posted near the town's entrance. Ordinarily, she would have stopped and corrected him, but his words only confirmed what she'd thought was happening.
She'd returned to the small town where she'd lived for a few months during her second stay in the country, only to find everything gone awry. Her best human friend, possessed by a demon and nearly killed and the family broken and scattered after the apparent deaths of two of their own? She hadn't believed it, and she wasn't sure if she believed it now.
Only the village healer believed that there was a chance her friend was still alive. The old woman, who seemed to be going senile but still made sense most of the time, mentioned a staff that the demon might be seeking. And so her search began, trying to find a reputable seer rumored to live in Lynn's Brook.
She entered the inn, glancing around at each patron as she strode through the main room. The only people of note were a young man sitting by the door, a couple near the innkeeper, and a strange...girl? who looked to fading to colorlessness. Ignoring them all for the moment, she caught the attention of the innkeeper.
"I'm looking for a seer," she began. "One who can find a very special magical item."
((Meanwhile, across the room...))
"Oh, crap," Rianrike said to herself. _________________ Sold my soul to Square Enix. Never been happier.

| William walked through the countryside, his large mage hat tilted slightly on his head. He eventually came to a town. "This looks like a good place to stay. I bet I'll find some interesting people here too."
As Will walked through town, he came to realize that everyone was not as interesting as he had thought. Most of them were quite rude in fact. He sighed, and decided to look for an inn to stay the night at. Suddenly, he heard a loud voice echoing throughout the town. He looked to the source and saw a man yelling at a piece of floating meat. The loud voice was coming from that piece of meat. "Interesting...Must be some type of communication spell." He noticed the beautiful woman standing next to the man and suddenly felt his heart jump in his chest. "Wow....She's beautiful!" He realized he was talking out loud again and blushed, hoping no one heard him. When the voice stopped, the man threw the bacon off into the distance. Will was somewhat disappointed he could not examine it to see what kind of magic it possessed. He decided to head to the inn, but realized he did not know where the inn was. He saw the man and woman start walking and decided they might know where to find it.
As he approached them, he stopped in his tracks. He couldn't help but stare at the woman from behind. Her figure was curved perfectly, almost flawless. His eyes scanned her until he reached her butt. He marveled at its perfect shape, and the way it moved when she walked. He mentally slapped himself for thinking such things. He was incredibly embarassed now. He could not possibly approach those two without making a fool himself. He decided to trail silently behind them until they got to the inn. When they reached their destination, Will waited outside. Once the woman went to her room, he would go in. As he waited, he saw another person enter the inn. She had pointed ears, and the look of a feral person. "Most likely a spellwolf, but what is one doing here?" _________________ "Crazy? No, I'm sane. God am I sane."

| "Ah that was good..." Artak said to himself as he finished his meal smiling a bit to himself. It was sometime since he ate something he hadn't hunted himself.
Leaning back in the chair, he looked around in the room, finding more and more people then when he had taken his spot.
Well it seems this place is some middle way to something if so many people on one day passes through...they don't seem atleast to live here is my guess... he thought as he looked through the rooms once more, for a short moment his eyes stayed on the girl that was sitting by the table, he felt he had seen her before.
I do wonder.... he thought.

| She was trapped. Between the woman she had fought before and her old spellwolf friend, she could see no way out of the situation that wouldn't involve a huge inn-destroying fight...
'...but who ever said that was a bad thing?'
"Hey..." She stood slowly, drawing out the motion and keeping her eyes locked on the human woman in front of her. "I never caught your name last time. Refresh my memory?" _________________ Sold my soul to Square Enix. Never been happier.

((Yes, after Gorbard was woped, Sara and Bastian left the dwarf lands. I am assuming everyone else did as well. We all know each other. The only one not canon is The Worn Out Road because me and Thalros decided that.)) Sara turned to the woman. She looked familiar all right, but where had Sara seen her before? "Oh...Yes, my name is Sara Delfino. Have we met?" Bastian was annoyed that the spellwolf had barged in and pulled the innkeeper away from serving Bastian. "A sehr...?" said the dim-witted innkeeper. "Ah don't reckon we evar had one o' dem." Bastian slammed his fist on the counter. "My room key please." "Yur waht?" "MY room key." "You haff ta buy a room ferst, feller." "I just did!" "Nah, I don't reckon so. I wooda remembered dat." Bastian groaned with rage. "You were about to give me my room key before this woman barged in here! Remember!?" "Waht wooman?" Bastian clenched his fists and slammed them on the counter with incredible force. The counter cracked and split down the middle. Two dents the size of Bastian's fists could be seen where he slammed them. "JUST GIVE ME A DAMN KEY!!!" The innkeeper looked frightened now. Sweat dripped down his face as he fumbled for the keys. The man held one out to Bastian and he snatched it. "Which room?" "Da ferst one on da left! Upstairs! Just pleese dunt kill me!" "Thank you" Bastian said smugly and put some money on the counter. The innkeeper scooped it up hesistantly, watching Bastian. Still shaking from fear, he pocketed the money and faked a smile. "Thank ye k-k-kindly, sir." he stuttered. _________________ "Crazy? | Well a bit angry fellah there... Artak thought seeing the man burst out at the innkeeper, sure the innkeeper was a total idiot but noneed to get that angry.
His eyes went back to the girl who was now speaking with that other woman now.
I can't put my finger on it but I recognise her from somewhere... he thought as he stood up, stretching his legs for a bit.
"Well atleast the owner wasn't that stupid when I got my room..." he said without thinking. _________________ The best way to fight is to run the other way! |

| "Sara... Yeah, between fighting that orc and the whole attempt to kill the dwarf king and all, we never were properly introduced." Rianrike smiled her best, 'I'm-completely-innocent-even-if-you-think-I'm-batshit-insane' smile, and extended a hand.
The rest of the inn was quiet, and most were either looking at her or at the man standing next to Alisa. There were some cracks on the counter, and the innkeeper looked scared out of his mind. "Your friend there is kinda violent, isn't he?"
--- -- ---
For a moment, Alisa was torn between smiling at the fear on the innkeeper's face and frowning at his inability to answer her question. She resigned herself to asking around the inn that night and in the town the next day if there were no results, and turned back to the room.
She had noticed when everyone had gone nearly silent, but attributed it to the man's yelling at the innkeeper. Quite a few of them, however, seemed to be focused on the colorless person and the man's companion, who were standing across from each other near one of the far tables. As they had been when she entered, her eyes were drawn to the colorless person. She (He? It?) had an innocent smile on her face that did nothing to alleviate the aura of malice surrounding her.
She shifted slightly, moving the long wrapped weapon on her back to a more comfortable position. _________________ Sold my soul to Square Enix. Never been happier.

| Sara grabbed Bastian by the ear and pulled him away from the desk. "Stop causing trouble. We came here for a room, there's no need to get violent. Now apologize to him." She let Bastian go and pushed him back to the desk. Bastian grumbled. "Sorry.....I guess." Sara turned back to the woman. "I'm sorry miss, but I don't think we've ever met. Now if you'll excuse me." She grabbed Bastian by the ear again, and led him up the stairs to their room. She had recognized the woman of course, she just didn't want to talk to her. The woman had a foreboding presence, so Sara didn't want to hang around her. I just hope she's not staying the night here. I'll never be able to sleep then. ------------------- William peeked his head through the door. The beautiful woman had gone, making Will feel a bit more comfortable. He walked into the inn and felt a sudden chill rush up his spine. There was a malicious presence here. It was emanating from that drab, colorless girl. He felt pale and left the inn to sit outside again until the second woman had left. _________________ "Crazy? No, I'm sane. God am I sane."

| Artak looked after as the woman and her companion left the room, also noticing that a new person looked in just next to him through the door.
Fun more people I guess. he thought for a second. He walked up to the strange girl not really using his brain and not caring for that odd scary aura she had around her.
"Well even if she doesn't think you have meet I belive we have meet eachother before." he said to the odd girl. Without really using his brain he continued.
"My name's Artak and what is yours?...just want to see if I remember from where we might have meet." he smiled friendly, which maybe may seem more like a stupid grin. _________________ The best way to fight is to run the other way! |

| Sara kicked Bastian out of their room so she could get ready for bed. Bastian walked down the hallway, pouting. He headed back into the lobby and went outside. He saw a young mage sitting by the door, looking incredibly nervous. Bastian sat down next to him. The mage glanced at him, and noticing the man didn't seem to want to talk, he went back to watching the sky. He watched the sun disappear behind the hills, and the sky darken. He heard crickets start to make their chirping noises in an attempt to find a mate. He heard owls hoot and flap their wings as they glided through the trees. He even saw a few fireflies buzz through the air, lighting the path with their glow. All was calm and serene. He just sat there quietly. "BLAAAGAAAHHH!!!" Bastian had suddenly turned on the mage and shouted as loud as he could, hands raised at the mage's face. The mage leaped about a few feet into the air and yelped. He fell over and stared at Bastian like he was crazy, while Bastian just laughed. "Always be alert, boy. Never let your guard down near a stranger." He advised, then laughed again. _________________ "Crazy? No, I'm sane. God am I sane."

| After a moment of staring after Sara in annoyance, she turned her attention back to Alisa and the rest of the room. Most of the patrons flinched away from her gaze, which made her smile even more. There was no need to act normal with these people - she, and presumably the other people there - would be moving on the next day.
She turned and was heading to the stairs when a sudden shout from behind her made her jump. The man from the counter was doing more crazy things, and she shook her head before putting a foot on the first step.
"Excuse me," said a familiar voice behind her, and a hand caught her shoulder. "You seem to have something of mine."
The foxhead ring she always carried around her neck glinted dully in the lamplight as she turned around.
--- -- ---
The aura of malice grew even more as the colorless person turned around to face her. Briefly, Alisa wondered how anyone could mistake the person for human, but put the thought aside.
"Where did you get that?" she asked softly. _________________ Sold my soul to Square Enix. Never been happier.

| "W-What is wrong with you!? You can't just scare people at random!!" William sputtered. "Of course I can. I just scared you, didn't I?" Bastian retorted. William was annoyed by this. He got up and dusted off his robes and fixed his mage hat back in it's proper position. "Well, do what you want. I'm going inside." he huffed. As Will walked to the door, Bastian rose up and put his hand on the door, blocking William. "Please move." William said timidly. He had not noticed just how much taller the man was compared to him until he had gotten closer. "Let's cut the small talk and skip right down to the dirty facts." Bastian said in a menacing tone. "Why are you following us?" "Following you?" William was taken aback by this question. "Are some mediocre assassin hired by Callan?" William looked frightened now. "N-N-No!! Nothing like that! I just got into town and was looking for the inn! I figured you two might know where it was, so I went to ask you! But...I, uh, got a little nervous and decided to find it on my own." Bastian raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?" "Y-Yeah, really." Bastian said nothing else, and moved out of his way. The mage looked at Bastian, expecting him to suddenly attack, but when he didn't, he opened the door to the inn and went inside. Bastian followed him in and went back upstairs. He shoved the two woman who were standing at the front of the stairs out of his way. At the top of the staircase, he turned and said to them; "You know, it's rude to block staircases." and continued back to his room. He knocked before entering. "Come in." said Sara from behind the door. Bastian swung the door open, and walked in. Sara was wearing a white nighty and sat on the bed brushing her hair. "Why do you bother doing that when your just going to get it all messed up again while you sleep?" "I do this to keep my hair from looking like yours." she retorted. Bastian was shocked by this and shoved his hand into his hair and pulled it back, yanking some hair out in the process. "My hair isn't bad. See?" Sara laughed and put the brush down. "Whatever, I'm going to bed. Night" She laid down and pulled the blankets over her. Bastian looked at the bed and realized something. "Where am I going to sleep!?" "On the floor. Where else?" "I always sleep on the floor! Why don't you sleep there this time!?" Sara chucked at pillow at Bastian's face. Bastian caught the pillow in mid-air and threw it on the floor. He changed into his panther form and curled up against the pillow, growling softly. "Oh hush." Sara said. "You can complain about it in the morning." William rented a room from the innkeeper and sat down at one of the tables. He ordered something to eat, and while he waited, he pulled out his book from his bag and set it on the table, reading through the old, worn pages, carefully turning the pages with his index finger and thumb very slowly. _________________ "Crazy? | ((Please don't ignore me, ignoring me makes me sad...and maybe go berserk who knows :P))
Artak looked as the person he had approached just ignored him and had walked to the staircase. And now seemed to talk to someone else.
Ah well won't disturb if she doesn't know me....but I am suer I have seen her before.... he thought as another person passed up by the two by the staircase.
Sighing lightly for himself he walked past the two aswell heading for his own room.
"Excuse me..." he said as simple even though they had ignored him earlier.
Walking to his room he opend the door and more or less threw everything he had been carrying with him onto the ground next to the bed.
Without really taking his clothes off he just lied down on the bed, not removing his sword either.
"Well I do wonder where to next...." he said out into the air. Unsheating the short sword. Holding it high up he looked into the reflection of himself on the blade. _________________ The best way to fight is to run the other way! |

| ((Please excuse this post, but I wanted to point something out that I have constantly neglected to do. Bastian is a changeling, for those who don't know, and can turn into three different animals based on the land, sea, and air variety. Now I should state that when a changeling normally transforms, their clothes do not transform along with them. Bastian, however, trained specifically in Alteration so he could morph his clothes as well when he changed. I apologize for posting this here when it belongs in the character sheets thread,(which I am going to do) but I had to get this out of the way or it would bug me. Thank you for your cooperation.)) _________________ "Crazy? No, I'm sane. God am I sane."
