Here's a list for antagonists anyone thinks of. I'll start it off:

Name: Redro Kraad (think about it...)

Alignment:
Good(+10 max)/Evil(-10 max): 0
Lawful(+10 max)/Chaos(-10 max): +10

Appearance: His body looks like a skeleton carved from jet, but maintains the faceted structure of a crystalline substance. A black sort of smoke surrounds him, hugging close to his ski- er, bones, and small crystalline fragments are constantly moving around in this layer. However, he usually wears a black hooded robe, so none of these are usually visable.

Abilities: standard necromancer abilities. Can animate the dead and control zombies, can manipulate Blight, and can do Jason's trick of going underground. He is also adept at Law and Order spells, allowing him to crystallize objects and manipulate crystalline substances.

Bio: Like Rilian, he is (or was, depending on whether he still counts as one) a necromancer, and also like Rilian he didn't use his power for evil. However, he was discontent with the state of necromancy; he liked the idea of living forever, but absolutely hated decay and the chaos it brought; zombies fell apart, necroflesh decayed, and nothing would stay as he wanted it to. Eventually, he turned his eye to the magical aspects of Law and Order, and started trying to incorporate it into necromancy. After years of experimentation, he finally succeeded; he made a tiny crystal, one that was both blighted and ordered, and was naturally stable. He was not satisfied, however; it was small, seemingly weak, and took a tremendous amount of concentration to create. But when he touched it, he found that his assessment was premature; it stuck to him, attracted by his magic, and started to change him into the same material. A few moments later he died, and in his place stood Redro Kraad.

Personality: With his newfound immortality came a change in perception; as the seed crystal had done to him, he could bring others into a stable state of undeath. He was also aware that, like him, anyone who underwent this would die. They would act the same and have the same personality, but their consciousness, their soul, would be replaced by something else. Here he was with a chance to end death once and for all, to change the world so that there was no more decay or entrophy, to create a kingdome that would last forevermore.

He's taking that chance.

I'm a big fan of necromancers. I think this would be a great villain ^___^

Yay! We have a baddie! (and a rather cool sounding one at that.) Some of my past RPs have fallen apart simply because no one wanted to play the antagonist, resulting in several overpowered hero characters bashing on nameless NPCs for months. Nice to see that isn't an issue here.

So, are we going to try to incorporate him into the other possible plotline (the one about the extra-credit dig site)? Or come up with a new plotline entirely?

What!? Antagonist is one of the best rolls! I've half a dozen antagonist characters. Narioth Gwaithgul, Ahcea Reznos, Derrigen, Nom Lah...the list goes on! =D

I think we should work him into that one.

Hmm... How about this:

The dig site is very near his crypt- er, "house", and he's just about to complete his experiment. One of the students could detect a strong waves of magic coming from the other side of a wall of rock, and start digging. They could break though just in time to see the tranformation.

The odds of him just happening to be near this particular magical rock site: very high, actually. If you want to make a blighted crystal, why not have plenty of ordinary magical crystals on hand. Unfortunately, this has attracted other magic users...

Or the rocks could have become magical as a result of the experiments the "Crystal Necromancer" has been doing.

Hmm... they'd probably notice the taint, though. And, as far as I know, the acadey isn't too fond of the Dark Arts.

Yeah, I say we stick with the first idea--that he set up shop there because of the magic stones.

Here's an adaptation of a bad guy I made for a buddies superhero campaign. Obviously changes had to be made since that guy was made for a modern no-magic technological setting but the core is the same.

Name: Timothy St. Johns aka "Shout"

Alignment:
Good(+10 max)/Evil(-10 max): -2 (Good at heart but Vengeful and Destructive)
Lawful(+10 max)/Chaos(-10 max): -5 (Recognizes Order as nessecary, but views the current system as too corrupt to be allowed to survive)

Appearance: Normal Callan human, almost sterotypically so. Medium height and build, light brown hair kept very short, dull blue eyes, and dresses like someone who does lots of travelling but makes enough money to be comfortable.

Bio: His parents were two mages but that kind of power never tempted him. Life in the small town he grew up in was hard, thanks in no small part to a sadistic sheriff and corrupt lord, but he was raised to stand up for the little guy. Sure his mage parents were able to win battles against them but it always seemed to be a draw between the two sides, both giving up and taking small increments of territory like a poorly fought war. As a child he was diagnosed with an infernally tainted throat cancer, something nobody could prove was done on purpose but reeked of Infernomacer magic. He survived but he'd never physically speak another word again. Not many better ways to try to shut up people trying to organize against a lord then trying to kill the child of the movement's leaders.

What amazed him most was the messenger. The messenger was barely out of his teen years and just passing through, and all he did was write a letter. Sure his parents could summon fire and lightning with whispered words and motions of their hands, but that one letter completely obliterated the corruption of his town when a different lord and soon the king learned what was happening. From then on his parents were convinced in the power of magic, but he knew true power was in the Pen. Journalism would be his calling, the Truth was his weapon, and there were Lords that would fear him more then 10,000 mages. When he grew up he gained a reputation as an untaintable crusader and champion of the commoner. It was almost funny, the mute had the loudest voice of them all.

It didn't surprise him that people would try to kill him, but exposing a slavery ring run by members of the Kights of Callan themselves seemed to have stepped over a boundry. Knights themselves seemed to have kill-on-sight orders for him, and when corrupt knights began to cut out the tongues of the citizens of a small town for hiding him he had enough. He put down his pen and disappeared for years from the public.

His hiding place was a santuary his parents found during their adventuring days, a place of strong protective magic. Being mute he was unable to speak magic words to actually cast spells but the protective magic of the santuary and the magical potential he denied within himself reacted. He saw himself as a voice for the commoner, and it's as this voice his magical potential manifested himself.

Recently he has returned, and it seemed the time away had cured his voice. The truth however was something more sinister. He saw himself as the voice of the people so his magical abilites manifested as Audiokinesis, the ability to create, cancel, and manipulate Sound with his mind. Having gained magical abilities but having none of the discipline and training ment his abilites weren't entirely under his control and his mind was beginning to warp dangerously. Now lashing out at those perceived has having corrupt or oppressive natures it's only a matter of time before he kills someone. . .

Abilities: Physically he's a little better then a commoner, but only because constant travel has taught him a few dirty tricks. He considers his greatest skill to be his ability to write, and jokes that he writes with "The Pen That Burned 1,000 Ships".

In combat his greatest ability is his mysterious ability to manipulate, create, and control sound with his mind. Creating a voice for himself and cancelling out sounds no louder then a human voice came quickly but fine control escapes him, although he is practicing. Copying voices and throwing voices can be done if he can concentrate for example. What he lacks in finesse he makes up for in sheer power. At full power he can knock down buildings, generate powerful shockwaves, even punch holes in castle walls. Flight in himself and others is possible but only for short ranges and as of yet has always violently vibrated the flyer.

Personality: To say drunk on power would be an understatement. All his life he used the Truth to protect the meek from the powerful, never did he dream he would be one of the powerful. In his head he's still doing what he's still shouting at the oppressive and corrupt, making sure they know that they are not untouchable. Now he's just doing it literially. He's mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. He's not a soulless monster, he still stands up for the little guy. The problem is how he does it and how far he's willing to go. He now views kingdoms as too inherently oppressive to be allowed to continue much longer, and throwing knights through walls with a wave of a hand often seems like a good idea.

In his head he's out to change to world for the better like he always has been, but now gods help you if you look at him wrong.

I think its great how he's not really all that evil, and audiokinesis sounds awesome.
Well I finally came up with a non-"big picture" villain to throw in the mix so here it goes...

Name: Delven Sahvio

Age: 24

Gender: M

Race: Human--biological changeling

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Personality: Delven has no sense of morality/justice/humanity; he simply does what he feels like without inhibition in order to satisfy his whims. To Delven human lives are worth no more than that of any other animal. He is cheerful most of the time but quick to anger. He is instinctual and impulsive above all things.

Physical: 6’8” with a very muscular build. When in his default human-ish form he has beige skin, short uncombed black hair, bright green eyes, small claws on his hands and feet, slightly elongated ears, and a 3' long black prehensile tail.

Clothing: He wears nothing except a pair of knee-length black shorts and a black fur vest (anything more than that could end up getting torn during Delven's "changes")

Occupation: mercenary/assassin, currently a wanted criminal

Skills: Delven knows a great deal about biology, ecology, genetics and alteration magic. He also has developed numerous assassination and subversion tactics as a mercenary.

Abilities: Delven was at one time a skilled alterist and ecomancer. After undergoing an illegal ritual to become a biological changeling he lost most of his ability to perform that magic on anything other than himself. Instead now he uses a combination of the two to instantly change any part of his body into that of any animal that he has examined or learned about in detail (ex. he can quickly change his tail into that of a scorpion [but 4-5' long] and give himself the arms and torso of a gorilla/bear/lion or other combinations). He cannot mimic the appearance of other people. Delven can also alter his own body in a few other simple ways: for example he can drastically increase his rate of cell division in order to heal from injuries almost instantaneously and can stop his own body from aging.

Items: none

History: Delven was born on the outskirts of Erossus, the shy yet curious son of a kind ecomancer mother who took him outside to play very often and a stern but loving alterist father who performed alterism only on those who needed it in the heart of Sin City to make the necessary money for raising a child. From his early childhood Delven showed an interest in both types of magic and especially loved learning about the natural world and the animal kingdom. He had decided at an early age he would also be an ecomancer but keep up his alterist training and dedicate his life to helping others. His parents took care to raise him in a community and school far outside the center of Erossus. But one day around the age of 12 Delven’s pet cat ran away and he immediately ran after it, losing track of time until he found himself in the heart of the city where he got lost and began to wonder….
That evening his parents found him curled up on the side of the road, eyes wide open, skin almost completely white, clothes sprayed with blood though he had no wounds, and shivering despite the weather being warm. To this day if anyone asks what he saw and heard while he was in the city that day he just smiles and says “Nothing much, just human nature plain and simple.”.
From that day Delven’s personality was completely different, at first he was cold and isolated then after five years or so he suddenly became unusually cheerful and outgoing and visited the inner city whenever he could. Though Delven continued his magic training diligently his parents and friends could tell that something inside Delven had snapped. By the age of 20 he was quite skilled in his magic but had no appreciation for human life. He could hear about the most tragic tales or events and keep his same smug grin throughout and whenever anyone asked about it he’d simply smile and say something like “Well there are so many humans crowding up this ecosystem, what does it matter? Animals die all the time, it’s just nature taking its course.” One day a back alley alterist saw him at the zoo, heard him and, for a steep price, offered to do something that would make it quite easy for him to perform new acts of magic that would make him much more than just another human. After this illegal ritual Delven became incredibly savage and decided it was time for him to help thin down the human population so he left home and began his career as a mercenary and assassin.
In the years since Delven has slain dozens of Erossus nobles and many others as the new weapon-of-choice for their squabbles. He was especially notorious for devouring those he was paid to kill and quickly became a wanted man himself. His streak of murders finally ended when he was hired by friends of a deceased noble who died in a duel to kill the man who slew him, Szark Sturtz. Though Szark could not easily fend off Delven’s brutal physical onslaught, Amelia found Delven to be easy prey for enchantress magic and managed to stop him before he did any serious damage to Szark. She used Delven as a new boy-toy for a while then turned him in to the local authorities for the reward. Delven managed to escape prison but knew he had to get far away since a few of the Erossus police knew some enchantress magic. Now he roams the countryside in search of a way to avoid justice and new prey to hunt. He finds a magic crystal quarry near Quiral that has many caverns and seems to be the perfect place to lay low...

Misc.:
*Delven’s tail wags when he’s especially content and goes between his legs when he’s frightened.
* The primary driving motive behind Delven’s powers is an intense desire to survive; if Delven became one of the undead or was put under the influence of someone else via a type of mind control his powers would be severely reduced.
*Delven is a talented singer and a huge fan of Donovan Deegan's music (but not his sense of humor). One of the few times he ever left Erossus or the area around it was when he heard about Deegan's concert in Barthis, Delven snuck into Barthis that night and gave himself bat ears to listen to the music at a great distance from the crowd. He has occasionally sung Donovan's songs while he killed his targets.
