A Legend Forged (OPEN RP)

Subject: A Legend Forged (OPEN RP) Sun Feb 10, 2008 1:47 pm

((Basically, this RP is about the opening of Dwarven lands to the kingdom of Callan and its adventurers. The Dwarven land is completely uncharted by Callanian expeditionary forces, so its a jackpot for any freelance explorers. Most Dwarves are weary of tall folk, but have opened their towns in the hope of exploiting the new adventurers wallets.

The lands are comprised of frozen mountains and hills to the fall north. Most of their cities are built deep in the sides of mountains, although small villages and towns are carved out of solid stone of hills (if you need reference, look at the Dwarven cities in the Warcraft universe).))

Dorrick stood knee deep in snow, crouching and holding his gun at the ready. He watched through its scope as the newcomers began to pour into his lands. He didn't trust a one of them, and under different circumstances, he'd have started firing.

However, the King had stated the humans and their allies were welcome here. Why he had given in after all this time was unknown to him. The Dwarves certainly didn't need anything from the humans, and they only brought with them the taint of their actions.

Dorrick's scowl quickly faded as he saw a rather attractive woman walking down the path in a thin linen shirt, obviously unprepared for the cold and its...concequences.

"Hehe." Dorrick laughed, "At least thar women be som'pin ta look at."

The adventurers were obviously heading down the road toward the large town of Icebrew. Dorrick cracked his neck and stood, lowering his rifle. He turned to look at the smoke rising in the distance from chimneys in the town.

"Guess ah should get goin', t'ain't bein' payed ta stand about." he said, beginning his trek toward the town.

Bastian trudged through the snow, his shaggy hair covered with frost. Sara had thought it was funny to practice her aim on him by pelting him with snowballs from behind. This was apparently payback for him putting snow in her skintek suit earlier that morning.
A thick chunk of ice hit Bastian from behind.
"Ow! I thought you were throwing snow, not ice!"
"Snow is ice." She replied coldly, as she hurled another one straight at his face, which Bastian managed to dodge just in time. She seemed to be enjoying herself.
"Look, I know you're having fun, but we've got a job to do!"
Sara hurled another chunk at Bastian's side. It him hard, and he nearly stumbled.
"Fine, I'll stop...for now." She smiled a little.
Bastian ignored her and walked over to a nearby cliff. He saw a town in the distance, a Dwarf town. There was a large group of people below them heading towards the place, probably looking to shelter themselves from the harsh cold.
"I guess that town over there is our first stop." He chuckled. "Come on, Sara. Let's get going."

"I've finally arrived," Ananta thought to herself. Even for an elf, such a journey was a very long one. She had had to cross the sea, the forest, and finally the mountains. Being here though, there was no time to waste. She reminded herself that other elves aways said to not hurry so much, but she couldn't help it. Perhaps she was half human? She would never know.

Trying to get back to concentrating on her mission, Ananta examined her surroundings. The houses look carved into the hill side which she thought was smart engineering. She glanced quickly at the sky, wondering if she would see much more of it. She had imagined most of their city lay underground, but it was hard to tell without exploring. Ananta sees a male dwarf almost glaring at the new visitors. She smiles at him without thinking about it, and then realizes what she was doing. Oh if other elves saw that she liked dwarves, she would never hear the end of it!

She then thinks to herself: "There aren't any other elves here, so I don't need to worry about it. Well, I don't have time to waste. I need to ask someone the lay of the land. Hopefully this gentleman can help me... but maybe I shouldn't talk to him? I don't want to draw attention to myself. It should be ok since I have my hood on. He won't be off put if he can't see my ears. I guess there's no helping it..."

As he is heading towards town, Ananta stops and asks him:

Aloud: "Excuse me sir, could you please tell me about this town?"

Dorrick turned and was greeted by the beautiful sight of breasts! His eyes were perfectly level with the woman's chest. He grinned widely as he stared. He eventually looked up at her face to respond to her question.

"Aye, aye! The town be Icebrew." He said, "Maybeh ye want a companion in your journey?"

He smiled widely, showing his teeth through his beard. He may hate foreigners, but he always enjoyed the company of a good woman.

Ananta thought to herself: "Perfect, a guide! He's so much more manly looking than any other elf men I've met. Handsome too. Oh and that lovely beard! But I must concentrate on my mission..."

Aloud: "Yes, that would be lovely. As you may have noticed, I don't have an escort. I would be honored to be shown around by someone who knows the lay of the land."

Bastan wandered through town searching for info. He wasn't getting anywhere though, so he had Sara ask questions. Apparently, most of the dwarf men would answer to a beautiful woman, no matter what race.
They had found out some interesting things, but nothing worth checking up on. Bastian and Sara were getting tired.
"This is ridiculous! We haven't found anything! How can we accomplish this job when we've got no leads!?" Bastian shouted in frustration.
"I'm sure there's someone here who can help us. We just need to look around a bit more." Sara said calmly. Truthfully, she was just as frustrated as Bastian was, but she wasn't going to let that impede them in their journey.

"Well, first thing, me lady, ye shouldn't be straying from the path." Dorrick said, "Lots o' nasty beasties out here. Wolves, bears, and worse. Not yer normal beasts, though. Years o' bein' hunted by us makes'em vicious and very hard ta stop."

The Dwarf winked at the woman andgrinned widely.

"So, then, off ta town? Nay need ta fight anything unnecessary." He continued readying his rifle, "Dinnae worry, ah have ye covered."

((Sorry guys, I worked for way too long the two days before yesterday and I passed out last night, didn't wake up until about an hour ago.))

Dorrick began to lead the woman toward town. He wanted to answer her questions, but she talked quickly, so he had to mull over the question internally before answering.

"Ye never seen a rifle?" Dorrick asked rhetorically, "Tis a rare weapon where yer lot come from, I suppose. Tis rare here, as well. Most Dwarves favor axes. As fer yer compliment, I graciously accept. Ye be kind fer a foreiner."

Dorrick furrowed his brow at the question about the town, thinking what would be useful information.

"About the town..." He began, "It's mainly a brewing village. The place is centered around the Icebrew Distillery at the center o' town. Besides the ale production, the town favors smithin' fer trade. However, more recently, the adventurers from yer lands be opening a rather large treasure huntin' market."

Upon walking up a small hill, the town came into full view. It was rather large, dozens of buildings stood as a beacon in the deep snow. Large braziers lined the streets burning brightly and illuminating the wilderness which was dark from the overcast sky.

"Thar she be." Dorrick said, "So, will ye be needin' any more o' me...services?"

Ananta thought to herself: "Well, should I let him go? I don't even know if their city is partially under ground or what? Having someone who knows the area would be really helpful. Also someone who knows about drawves would be best. I can't really compensate him though, since all I have is elven money. I'm pretty sure that's worthless around here."

Aloud: "You know, I was expected for the city to be a bit more underground than this. Is there more underground? I just really want to explore the whole city. I know you are a very busy man. Even if you don't really want to guide me, I would at least apprecaite the company."

Dorrick grinned wickedly.

"Oh, tis nay trouble o' mine." He responded, "All our buildin's in such small towns be at least partially subterranial. Like what the humans would call a basement, ah s'pose. However, our truly large cities an' fortresses are built completely underground, or in the side o' mountains."

Dorrick's eyes darted between the womans face and her chest before he spoke, again.

"An' ye nay need ta worry about payment." He said, "We can speak about that later, in private."

Dorrick turned to the wonderful sight of yet another gorgeous woman.

Yes! Yes! This be a goldmine! Gods be praised for foreign women!

A wide grin dominated his face and a mischevious look came with it.

"A question?" Dorrick responded, "I have an answer."

Oh gods, if I can have them both...

Bastian watched as Sara conversed with the dwarf. A bizarre feeling of rage and envy swelled inside him.
If he tries anything funny, I'll cut off his hands.

Sara did her best to keep a charming, sweet smile on her face, even though she was repulsed by the dwarf.
"I was just wondering sir, if you have heard of a man named Gorbard?"
