Well my name comes from a typo of I cant even remember what I was trying to say, plus my brothers online last name Falconi. I was actually called Katon for a long while and that came from my favorite anime at the time, yu yu hakusho (Keiko + Boton)

at the wonderfully place of TPH people said I should make my character this one wolf girl I drew. I had remembered the Kasai typo and that it sounded cool so decided I would use it. it stuck. in a way the Falconi did but I only use that to sign my drawings with.

All right, I changed it back. I couldn't get used to logging in as Athena.

I haven't read half of your posts, I'll do it another time.

Sooooo... Katharos? Where did that deliciously dorky alias come from?

It's a nickname I gave myself at the sweet age of 5 years old. One day on a wall of the school for immigrant and retarded kids I went to, there were post-its with names and their definition, one for each kid of my class. Mine had of course my real name and it was written it meant "Pure". Then I made a tiny bit of research as the little bored friendless kid I was and found out the original name is Katharos.

I only began to seriously use it recently. I first got on Game Revolution as Blue_Dragon, then changed my alias to Ramia_the_blue_winged_angel, then Ramia_Aries, then Blue_Oniram, then Dark_Drow, then Giant_Wombat, then Popsicle, then Psykhokatt... if I was anything else across the Internets, I forgot.

My full nickname is Katharos Ombre. Ombre is shadow in french.
So... "Pure Shadow". Lame eh? I love it like that.

When I opened my first persistent (i.e. non-college) email account, I had to pick a handle. I wanted something anonymous and powerful but many names were already taken, even including wyrdwyrm. (Dammit.) After many failed attempts to pick a suitable, available username, I eventually got CobaltWyrm.

Some years later, I needed to pick a name for a disposable handle and chose Electrolemming. I ended up using it a few other places because I'd become a little embarrassed at the self-promotion involved in calling myself a dragon, no matter how cool its color. Unfortunately, that went too far the other direction and I quickly got tired of minimizing myself with the name of a dumb little cliff-jumper.

I'd long called myself a bibliovore because of the voraciousness of my reading. I wasn't just a bibliophile...unless you take it to mean some kind of textual predator taking advantage of innocent documents, and most people don't look at it that way. But, I don't actually eat books, so I thought that it might confuse people. Besides, I do more of my reading online now.

After thinking about it and talking it over, I decided that I was really a knowledge devourer. I double-checked the roots to make sure that my new name would make sense and bam! Scientivore was born. 8)

That's what I like about taking the names of characters from relatively unknown (but very good) books. No one else ever uses the name!

Correction; almost no one else uses the name. Googled it, and I got a few hits for other people who go by the name "Maulkin".

I always wanted to use this name as my name in German class back in high school, but my teacher vetoed. This is my username on the only other forum I participate once in a while. That forum is for our anime club we have at our college. I may no longer be in school but I still lurk around anyway. Also, dragons are the best things ever.

Not having internet for a week? Possibly one of the worst worst things ever.

I've had this one since I was...five or so. My brother and I were both HUGE Swat Kats fans, and we used to play flight sims together on our old IBM PS/2 (Corncob 3D, anyone?) He'd fly, and I'd man the guns...so we went by T-Bone and Razor. He moved on to the Korean name given to him when he got his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do...Sinim. I kept Razor...and now I couldn't bear to use anything else. It's become a part of me, and has been my handle/callsign/nickname for most of my life.

I've got a friend that calls me 'Kat' even irl. And I answer to it, possibly better than I answer to my real name. So ya, I know what you mean when you say your name's a part of you, Razor.

Well, I decided I was sick of LadyMacbeth in favor of a better character namesake.

What better character than Puck, aka Robin Goodfellow, the best character in any of the bard's plays?

Obviously no better character, if you chose it.

I was raised a Christian, but I didn't read the Bible until only recently, and I had a lot of problems with it. It's pretty devastating when you learn that everything you've been told about the universe and a loving god is a lie. (From my perspective, I mean. Not trying to knock any Christians.) But then I was reading some quotes of some crazies, like this guy who said the New King James translation is the real Bible, and not the original texts. >.> So it made me think "I may be lost, but at least I'm not a sheep." It kind of adhered the idea of a lost cat to myself.

Then I was looking for a new screen name, something to detach myself from the old screen name of my youth, and more androgynous. Something relating to cats, but also describing me. So my friends were throwing out ideas, and I picked Stray. I think it encompasses my lack of a strict set of beliefs, along with the idea that I'm sort of mentally wandering, trying to find the truth.

It's not exactly a rare word, so I lengthen it to StrayThought where needed.
