| Obama-74% Gravel(whom I have never heard of before)-74% Clinton-72% I'm upset because Hydralisk wasn't on there. But my choice in prez is either Obama, Gravel, or Hydralisk. _________________ "It's 104 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." | Don't worry, Faceless, Hydralisk is doing quite well. See here:
Hydralisk set for clear Auir victory Char Senator Hydralisk is projected to win the Zergican caucus in Auir, defeating Kerrigan.
The Auir contest tops a weekend of gains by Mr Hydralisk in the battle for the party's presidential nomination. On Saturday, Mr Hydralisk won in polls Chau Sara, Mar Sara and Brontes state and Korhal. The clean sweep of all five weekend contests puts him almost neck-and-neck with Kerrigan in their deadlocked nomination battle.
Meanwhile, Mrs Kerrigan has appointed a new campaign manager after this weekend's setbacks. Cerebrate Daggoth, who was the Tarsonis senator's chief of staff when her husband was serving as US president, will take over from Cerebrate Zasz, who has decided to step down. Campaign aides said Zasz's decision was not urged upon her by Mrs Kerrigan or any senior members of her team, the Terran Dominion reports.
Mr Hydralisk and Mrs Kerrigan now head into a series of contests on Tuesday: Umoja, Dylar IV and the Koprulu Sector.
Across Auir on Sunday, Zerg in 420 cities and towns braved harsh winds and snowfall to turn out in heavy numbers for the state-wide caucuses. They were deciding how the state's 24 delegates will be allotted at August's Zergican party national convention.
On the Terranocratic side, President Mengsk has described the party's front-runner, Edmund Duke, as a true conservative. The presidential vote of confidence comes despite continuing criticisms from leading party members who have questioned the Norad II senator's conservative credentials.
Although Mr Duke won primary polling in Brontes state on Saturday, correspondents say the Norad II senator still has some work to do to unite his party, as Alexei Stukov won in Earth and Chau Sara.
Mr Stukov and third-placed Lowly Marine have been coming under pressure to step aside for the sake of party unity. But Mr Stukov said on Saturday that he had no intention of pulling out. Mr Duke has a wide lead with 719 delegates to Mr Stukov's 234 and Mr Marine’s 14. Mr DuGalle's suspended campaign still has 298 delegates.
On the Zergican side, Mr Hydralisk and Mrs Kerrigan are facing the prospect of a long drawn-out battle after neither was able to deliver a knock-out blow in Super Tuesday's 22 state contests. Mrs Kerrigan and Mr Hydralisk are practically level, each halfway to winning the 2,025 delegates needed to secure victory at the Zergican party convention in August. |

| a democratic viewpoint
| Spoiler: | | | I tend to prefer the democrats for a number of reasons.
The first, is that many republicans tend to favor programs geared at forcing their sense of morality on others (these being the conservative republicans). For example, restricting gay marriage and stem cell reasearch or prohibiting abortion. For all their talk of small governemnt, these republicans seem to really like using government to stop things which conflcit with their own moral viewpoints.
Another is that, while as you point out many democrat programs seek to take one individual's property and bestow it upon another, the problem is that without making somebody pay to ensure the well-being and safety of others, there is no way to ensure the well-being and safety of others. Long ago, under the articles of confederation I believe, the federal government was not allowed to levy taxes, instead dependign on donations. The problem with this system is that it makes it impossible for the governemnt to have a dependable source of income in order to provide public services, such as defense in this case.
Taxes are fair because everyone who pays them benefits from them, at least a little, such as national defence, courts, public works like roads and public schools.
Now, as it just so happens, richer people need these services less, since they can afford to provide them for themselves. However, poorer people cannot. And, since richer people can most easily stand the economic loss and since they arguably have benefitted the most from society, it seems logical to have them give up a greater proportion of their income to go back to the public.
If you want to know why it is so important for the government to provide these goods, go to a thrid world cpountry where the government does not (and I have). In these places, the rich have all the luxuries Americans have and take for granted: private schools, running water and electricity, good food and clothing. However, the poor live in dirt hovels without many or even without all fo these things, mostly because the taxes the rich pay are either very low or are wasted in corruption, or a combination of both. Everytime I hear somebody talk about how we don't need the government, I point to the third world countries where government provides nothing, or even hinders people from providing things. That is why we need taxes and spending on public schools and social security and government in general, so that our poor people do not become like theirs.
And that is my opinion.

| Edited by Maulkin: I am not debating this. ShadowWolf asked why a person would vote Republican; I answered. Not only are you outright debating, but you're attacking another person and group. _________________

| I got 76% Gravel, 76% Obama, and 76% Clinton...
It doesn't really matter, though. I don't plan on voting. _________________ "You may need to metaphorically make a deal with the devil. By 'devil' I mean robot devil and by 'metaphorically' I mean get your coat." ~Bender from Futurama

On another note, Smythe, I break out into a fit of girlish giggles everytime I see your avatar, I love it so much. _________________ "You may need to metaphorically make a deal with the devil. By 'devil' I mean robot devil and by 'metaphorically' I mean get your coat." ~Bender from Futurama

| | Particularly because Dragonfly apparently agrees with similar candidates as me, if the test is to be believed. Were she to disagree with me, I would be perfectly happy with her not voting. |

| Alright, I can see we can't have this thread without a debate/personal attacks cropping up. Topic closed. _________________
