I've heard only of one big one in Melbourne and there must be some in Sydney, but they aren't exactly well publicised.
Although, yeah. I suppose since I've actually heard of it (lol, isolation) that it's probably fairly large. But I guess the fact is a lot of people are really limited by where they live...
Maybe we should start a club. :D |

| Supanova is held once a year in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.
Animania held in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth once a year for two days running and twice a year in Brisbane for one day each time.
I know Gencon comes to Brisbane in July so I can't offer details on it but I might check later.
This year I have been to supanova and one of the Animanias. I plan to go to Gencon and the second animania later in the year. _________________

| Wow. Really? That could be cool... depending on when the ones in Sydney are, I might even be able to go. :O
(Well, if I had mah Sunny with me, that is.)
What do you actually do at conventions? What type of people and stuff comes? *curious* |

| Cosplayers, merchandise companies like madman and EB. Heaps of random manga/anime related retailers and everything is generally cheaper to encourage sales.
Sometimes there are artists. There will tends to be voice actors signing autographs and such. Displays of current anime/games.
And one helluva lotta competitions; most relating to the cosplayers. _________________

| I'll probably be the only one here going to AWA, but it's three days of pure Enormous con; lotsa guests + bands and concerts and whatnot; costume contests, workshops, video rooms, HUGE dealer's room, and just about everything else.
Basically, it's amazing. And seeing the looks on the faces of the people who work at the local mall where everyone goes to get cheaper food when you walk in with a group holding 13 weapons and most everyone is cosplaying is absolutely priceless! You can see it in the old people's faces: "What is this world coming to?"
109 days, 11 hours, 41 minutes til AWA14! |

| I MET MOOKIE at A-Kon!
His panel was the best ever, he's a total hoot to see dancing and ranting and geeking out at the front of the room. He had the whole audience cracking up laughing and he reeeeeally needs to get a bigger panel room next year.
Also, every copy of Storm of Souls he brought with him was sold out by the end of the first day, and everything else (including several knitted Mr. Scarfs) was gone by the middle of the second day. So, FLAWLESS VICTORY for Mookie. _________________
