| I dunno, just figured I would make an open thread about this. A place where people who have been can give advise, and those who are going ask questions, and those who are there (like myself) can share experiances.
Well I'm in my first year in the Arts Program, and already I'm begining to question why I'm here. It's mostly just stress and the fact I'm in residence and no one is forcing me to classes and studying that I'm doing...poorly... But even if I did drop out because of marks, stress, or whatever reason I have a backup plan. Work my way through a diff college taking hotel management or go into the police force. My cousin is also applying to go to police colleges in the area and well it would be kinda cool to be a cop. _________________ "The only way to settle this dispute between two gods is with a pie-eating contest!!!" - Elan

| I'm in my second year in History Teacher. It's going okay I guess, to I hate to work with my classmates because most of them do everything at the last minute while I tend to finish my papers the week I get them. When I got a test I'll start studying two weeks before it, one to prepare, one to actually study. If I have two tests in one week I'll begin four weeks before that. My grades are pretty average, if I get them that is. My school is not organized at all. It takes about three weeks for the teachers to give back your grade, which sucks 'cause exactly three weeks after the test you can take it again for a better grade. That's the shit I'm in now btw, next monday we'll have the second chance test and I haven't gotten my grade back, also I have two papers due for next week and a presentation and evaluation so it's not like I'm not busy or anything. My mentor is incompetent like hell period. If students complain about the pressure and time strain, the board will solve this with the following solution: we'll cut the reading work in half and DOUBLE the amount of papers and presentations you have to do. Since we got enough time right? I would love to go to another college, but the closest college with History Teacher is like... on the other side of the country. So no go there. Also an example about how everything is organized at this college is that they will notify you that you'll have to go half way cross the country in three days and oh yes, could you please make a full excursion assignement for it before you get there? Of course, to make sure you'll actually go, they will count this little assignement as half of your grade. So in other words, my college sucks like no other. I'm praying that I can get my degree so I can leave for the university and leave the incompetent idiots behind me in my past.
(look a word joke... because I study history... ah forget it...) _________________

| I detest college. I am only taking it out of necessity. I paid to learn from a professor, not to read my books at home and be tested on them. I can do that myself, damn it >.<
The bullshit filler courses are a pain as well (why on earth do I need political science and psychology to become an accounting major???) _________________

| I'm still trying to figure out why I need psychology and shit like that for being a veterinarian. o_O; Filler classes are bullshit. BULLSHIT I say!
IT's probably just a way for them to fill their school and get more money out of you. _________________ So that when the silt covers us, We will hear the symphonies of vibrating earthworms, Singing us into an after-life of vagabonding. I like to be short, bittersweet, and to the point. |

| Of course. It's crap. Like we don't spend too much money on education anyway. They always say, "If you want to go to a good school, save up!"
I can get the same damn education in a Library for cheaper overdue fines. _________________ So that when the silt covers us, We will hear the symphonies of vibrating earthworms, Singing us into an after-life of vagabonding. I like to be short, bittersweet, and to the point. |

| Would you think me odd if I can see the benefit to learning psychology for veterinarian science? _________________

| Yeah, but the colleges have convinced all those good paying jobs that the stupid little piece paper they give out actually means something. _________________

| Perhaps behavior psychology (ie, conditioning), but not most other fields. And you usually don't have enough time to use it on them. _________________

| Not completely. I understand to some degree that one must have a basic understanding when dealing with distraught or upset pet owners.
However, government is completely unnecessary. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't enjoy learning, it's just frustrating that I'm paying to learn a specific thing, and am having all these others shoved in my face.
I'm sure most college students feel this frustration. _________________ So that when the silt covers us, We will hear the symphonies of vibrating earthworms, Singing us into an after-life of vagabonding. I like to be short, bittersweet, and to the point. |

| Eh, i also have this problem in my carrer, but i came to terms with this even before i even entered college, i knew more than the half of the stuff they would "teach" me would be useless for my career.
Why did i entered college then? simple, the goverment doesnt let you own and manage a chemical analisis lab if you dont have a degree in pharmacobiological chemistry, so yeah, basically i am paying half a million pesos and 5 years of my life with the sole purposse of getting a piece of paper that will let me succeed in the lab my dad owns...
That is actually the true purposse of me going to college, because the knowlege they teach me in two years i can learn it from experience in a month, the actual usefull knowledge i mean, yeah, i am a weird case. _________________ 'Any tree can drop an apple.
