| I saw Real Ninjas debut at Otakon, it was one of the funniest things I ever saw and I was sadly disappointed that it only came in 2nd in the comedy category. I've made only 2 AMVs myself, both on youtube, shameless advertisement w/ links below.
On the whole, yeah, random scenes + music does NOT make for a good AMV. While mine aren't that great, I did my best to stray from that mentality, trying to be somewhat creative with my ideas. I also try my best to take criticism to heart, unlike some people who you've mentioned here.

| Man this makes me sad. I'm in a "sci-fi enthusiast" group (it's really just a cover, we're EVERYTHING nerdy) called Cepheid Variable, and they asked members to submit AMVs for our small convention we have, but now all I can think about is how I'm probably gonna make it suck  Any suggestions on how to keep it from falling into the "random clips to music" department?
