| I've heard a fair number of people in real life say "reckon," and I doubt that most of them are Australian. Maybe it's an Oregon/Australia thing...

I hear it in the south a lot. I never use that word though. I'll use it in a sentence as a demonstration.
"I reckon I gonna get me a tractor!"
You know, something like that.

Yeah, reckon is a pretty popular word 'down under' or at least near where I live.Also, I bet you wouldn't remember me saying it except that I mentioned how much I hated saying the word and everyone said I should have just used another word.

but no I think it was another time when I recognized it, after you said that I think. XD
 I would use the more friendlier pat that's at The Den but we don't have it.

| 'Reckon', is to think. It's a registered word in the english language. Can also be used in the context of 'reckoning' something.

Funny to think it isn't used commonly abroad. It's informal, and I'd only ever use it in speech or net talk, not in other writing things, but it is really, really common around here. It reminds me of how surprised I was when people weren't familiar with the delightful term "up himself".
Man. Now I want to hear some crazy American words that we don't use. :P |
